NRA Telemarketers Hawking Scary Conspiracies, Membership
Media Matters got this video from David in Colorado who received a telemarketing phone call from the NRA. The caller is working from an obvious script complete with worldwide conspiracies including: Hillary Clinton, Cuba and Iran.
Perhaps my favorite part is when the NRA caller offers condolences for "the school shooting," even though she of course doesn't know which school shooting she's offering condolences for when challenged (it is apparently that one "in the paper" that "recently" happened--you know, Columbine, in 1999).
There is no such thing as shame--not during Wayne LaPierre's tenure at the NRA. They'll use fake compassion over a school shooting and a manufactured galactic conspiracy if it will bring in more cash for arms dealers and help pay LaPierre's $1.27 million salary per year.

The NRA doesn't give a half a sh|t about the 2nd Ammendment. They are a gun lobby for the gun manufacturers paid for by fools and morons that buy into their BS with their membership dues.
If they actually cared about the 2nd Ammendment they would be in courts around the country (like NYC) attempting to nullify existing gun restrictions. They don't do that because they are a gun lobby for the gun manufacturers.

How about a ballistic missle? Where is the line drawn on what constitutes "arms?" The only purpost for owning is pistol is to conceal and kill other people.
The strict constructionist on the SCOTUS, if they were other than dishonest a-holes, would limit the 2nd Ammendment to "arms" that were available at the time The Constitution was written. But, the SCOTUS is a bunch of reich wing, facist, jerks hell bent on pushing their agenda. They are NOT strict constructionists except when they want to be.

But the NRA is not serving any kind of a useful function and have not served a useful function for several decades now (note: helping gun manufacturers get richer is not a useful function).

We all might want to learn how to work one of those firearms. The right wing nuts just keep getting nuttier and, right now, they're the ones with the know-how and equipment. We're giving them a lot of credit if we think they're into the peaceful kind of protest. I think the word is naive.
The NRA obviously wants to impose their warped idea of the second amendment on the entire world, even countries that already have better gun control and way less crime than we have. They will fail at that, but they will be able to delude plenty of weak-minded people here in America.

freedoms. Progressives do well with gay rights and abortion rights, but suddenly disappear on the second amendment. Van's post is 2000% right. I personally would vote for more Democrats here in CA if they weren't so hostile to the 2nd Amendment.
Unfortunately, the root of this hostility, just like the hostility of many on the far-right towards immigrants and those not like them, is in ignorance. Most progressives have never seen a real gun, much less touched or fired one. And it is this ignorance that spawns the hateful posts in this thread, calling those who'd dare to protect themselves and their families 'stupid' or 'needing penis enlargement'. Of course this turns of working class people!
Anti-gun "progressives" like to preach about the inherent racism that characterizes too many big city police departments (which is correct), then work to pass laws to prevent members of minority and low-income communities from arming themselves. Then they argue that the same racist cops should do a better job of protecting these communities!
The vast majority of people in low income/working class communities are law-abiding. Making criminals out of these people for daring to protect themselves against criminals is 100% classist, 100% racist, and 100% evil.
