BREAKING: Bill Clinton hospitalized for heart problems, two stents installed
They say he's in good spirits and doing well, but you always have to worry whenever heart surgery is involved:
Former President Bill Clinton is "in good spirits" after a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries, according to a spokesman.
"President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti's relief and long-term recovery efforts," said adviser Doug Band said in a statement.
He is expected to stay the night at Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he was admitted earlier Thursday.
It'll be interesting to watch the civility-conscious right-wingers who were all aghast at liberals' comments when Rush Limbaugh was hospitalized.

and was out of the hospital Sunday the 6th.
The quickest way to a man's heart is through his groin!
Get well quick, Mr President.
me-oww!
This should be amusing, any way.
I feel I was double-crossed by him as the president. NAFTA, DOMA, DADT, the telelcommunications act of 1996, and the repeal of Glass-Steagle.
He did his part to screw the commoners / working men and women , that's for sure .

Prayers and good thoughts. Thank God for advances in medicine. Maybe this will have an effect on the health care discussion?
Are you kidding????
Hey, thanks for all those tax dollars you gave to help out with President Clinton's government sponsored health care package. I'm sure if he could he would personally thank you himself, but, well...you know with him being in the hospital and all...
With a little luck in the future, some more of your tax dollars, and mine of course, will go to helping us out in your or my time of need, should either of us have a heart attack or develop some sort of debilitating illness.
So I just wanna say in advance,...Thanks Pal, your a swell guy. ;)
No, it won't. It will be, like everything else they say these days, simultaneously infuriating and boring.
As we now know, thanks to Queen Sarah, when Republican assholes talk about how Bill Clinton deserves to be in the hospital or how it's an answer to imprecatory prayers, it's just satire. If a Democrat does it, well . . .
What's really interesting to me is that Bill Clinton likely actually had heart surgery. Rash Limbo didn't even have heart trouble. I'd bet good money that he OD'd on whatever drugs currently feed his addictions, and told his doctors to wink and say, "heart problems."
Everyone is equally entitled to the pursuit of happiness. Wasn't that once self evident?
Tighelander - Don't sugar coat it, what do you really think?
That made me root for him, although he really wasn't on my side.
He has and is doing great humanitarian work worldwide since leaving the oval office.
... a similar emergency surgery. It is fairly routine, and I wish President Clinton a speedy and safe recovery.
It's only routine if someone else is having it.
May you never be an "interesting case".
Minor surgery is what other people have.
Rectum? Damn near KILLED 'em!

Glad it's not his gall bladder....
The only one I can feel once in a while is the 90 degree one, the other two, not at all.
The makers of Plavix love me now.
Take two of these and call me in the morning:

The doctors told him to lay off the cigars.
IIRC he had post operative inflammation (pericarditis). This can lead to early graft closure. It is very unusual for uncomplicated post CABG patients to have further blockages this soon after surgery, especially if they are non diabetic and male. I suspect that one or more of his bypass grafts has closed down and he needed an intervention. The stents will alleviate the immediate problem but he may need a redo CABG sooner or later.

Get well soon, Mr. President. I don't even want to think about what the idiot Freepers and Bush-bootlickers are saying right now.
NOBODY 2012
than "get well."
Oh, I've got it, thanks for NAFTA.
Here's wishing him a speedy and complete recovery.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
Get well, Bill. Stay well, too.
It would be a galling irony for such a vigorous, effective former president to be diminished by heart disease when Darth Cheney, with his pacemaker and diseased ticker, is still out there sowing discord and division.
And the funny part is boosh never mastered division...

He needs to slow down, I read that he was "apparently was on a conference call about Haiti as he was being wheeled into the operating room Thursday."
time, it's still a little bit heartening that he's working so hard for people, especially Haiti right now.

What worries me is now that Clinton is on the sidelines, Dubbya is gonna have to wing it alone with the Haitian relief effort and we all know what a great job he did down in New Orleans.
Shit! I forgot about that. Oh God help Haiti... *sigh*

LOL Sorry, Annaleigh. Maybe Jimmy Carter could come off the bench and pinch hit for Bill.
needs to take charge and/or hold Chimpy's hand through this. :S

Holding Chimpy's cold and slimey hand? I don't even think Carter's game enough for that. Jimmy better bring along plenty of rubber gloves.
clean and all that...

Two stents , two separate procedures . Simple procedure with a high price tag , last one with no insurance ( was laid off ) , received a $60,000 bill complete with postage required payment envelope . About a twenty to thirty minute procedure and a day and a half in the hospital I think it was , a real bargain .The first one with Insurance was about $17,000 total , I got stuck with about 3,000 of the 17 . $60,000 vs. $17,000 , they like kicking you when you are down I guess , on the other hand I am still above ground ... for what ever that's worth .

The Free Market is all about choice. Choosing which widget to buy keeps the cost down and service good. The most important choice though is not to buy something at all, and this is where the argument for the status quo breaks down. If you have to buy something because your life depends on it, your at a disadvantage and the seller can charge you whatever they want to.
I hope you have a speedy recovery.
And thank God his procedure wasn't denied. Not like the little people.
Much of our unemployment is directly due to that single bill.
The foreign laborers who toil at NAFTA wages get little or no health care, like our unemployed manufacturing workers.
I'd truly rather see Clinton, Carter, and the Bushhookers getting maquiladora health care, instead of those great Congressional/government insurance benefits.
And, after the recovery, Q4H of calls from bill collectors would be an excellent medicine, for him and for retired GOP presidents as well.
Many of those "foreign laborers who toil at NAFTA wages" are in Canada. They make good wages and get virtually free, good quality health care.
President Clinton used up most of his political capital trying to get sweeping health care reform during his first term while subjected to increasingly hysterical GOP attacks and you're mad at him for that?
