Week after week, year after year, Bobo swims from spotlight to spotlight across the blighted media landscape of a country his ideology helped to mutilate...speaking gauzily of a sane, reasonable Republican Party that does not exist.

can't have my heart's desire of a "Going Away" edition. ;)
palin could call her next book,
"MY MISSING VAGINA DIALOGUES"
or
"WHO STOMPED OUT MY FLAMING BUSH?"
Sexist
Speaking of books, I just heard a lecture and interview with the author of "The Wrecking Crew," in which he described chapter and verse about exactly how the conservatives destroyed our government regulatory power and economy. For a long time, I have been referring to the Bush administration as a kleptocracy. He documents it, with passion. It makes me want to weep for what they've done to our country.
You can buy it cheap on Amazon.com:

The Wrecking Crew was a show on NPR. See: http://www.alternativeradio.org/
when I next get a chance! :)
Right now I'm reading The Wimp Factor, Crazy for God, and an anthology of essays on right-wing women's movements around the world...

corporatism? have we ever really had a free market (since the 1840's that is), or is free market these days used as a euphemism for corporatism?
Yet another pointless, sophomoric and redundant photoshop picture. Usually Bluegal supplies us with these meaningless jabs. "driftglass"? Not enough guts to put your real name out there? Palin is a disease not a cartoon. Brooks is an enemy of the all working men and women on this planet, not a buffoon. He has a job. He does it better than you do.
"Yet another pointless, sophomoric and redundant".....
comment from you.
jhunter99844? Hypocrite. It may also have escaped your notice but parody and satire are much more effective tools for puncturing the inflated egos of the self-perceived high and mighty than your perpetual whine. That never rises above mildly irritating. Both Bluegal and Driftglass do this much, much, better than you.
Thom Hartmann talks with Don Siegelman, ex-Gov of Alabama who was driven from office and incarcerated on politically motivated (Karl Rove) charges.
Siegelman's appeal is going before the Supreme Court.
Siegelman answers the question, "Are you surprised the Obama administration is opposing your appeal?"
His answer goes to the heart of the problem at Obama's Dept of Justice.
Scary stuff ..
(YouTube) Don Siegelman: Is President Obama leaving Siegelman behind?
Thx for the link MM23. Evidence that any changes to the department of justice under Obama are only superficial.
.. and dismayed.
to have further proof that the same powers who selected Bush have allowed Obama to take his place. They will allow Obama to live as long as he follows orders.
The rulers of the world needed a Democrat to blame for the destruction of America's middle class.
I'm 49 years old and the Republican party still looks like the klan to me!
MSNBC (YouTube): C Street House Has Tax-Exempt Status Revoked
First 2 minutes are about Ethics Charges against SC Gov Mark Sanford, then the C Street report.
I hope they go after all the other religious groups, starting with the ones who see fit to stick their noses into the legislative process where it doesn't concern them directly...
CNN (YouTube): More Evidence Cops Have ZERO Respect For The Law!
Will the Sheriff go to jail?
Will his deputy comply with the Judge's Order or go to Jail himself?
Goodness gracious, that photoshopped mock book cover actually frightened me.
I blame Obama for the horrific traffic snarls his visit to Seoul is causing. :)
of his own yesterday in NYC. One of the police advance cars got into a wreck. No one hurt though.
Now, this is still an area in which Obama has McCain beat. Obama may create snarls now, but McCain's family members abuse our emergency systems over traffic snarls... :S
He mentioned sailing through NYC traffic-free, but not the car crash, here:
Joe Biden on Jon Stewart:

nothing to do with the accident himself but this one car in his motorcade did...
Watching the clip now. :)
Ok, I stand corrected! ;)
He's certainly a lot more likable than Cheney ever will be. He has a sense of humour.
easily tease Biden about his reputation for having the "gift of gab" if you will, and I don't think it would bother him a bit! :)
.
DougJ's summation of Bobo's latest column:
I would be remiss if I didn’t point out how awful the first two paragraphs of Bobo’s piece are, not just because they summarize all of American history in four sentences, but because of the way the opening resembles an unholy marriage of Neil Young’s “Helpless” and the last chapter of The Great Gatsby.
Somehow he manages to link the impact of flights of flocking geese in the 1500's to divorce rates in modern America.
Hey, John, you are news at HuffPo:
I filed an FCC complaint against FOX News over "Hoax" News Palin coverage!John Amato, 11.18.2009
So...the Senate healthcare bill will cover all but 6% of Americans.
It's bad enough turning healthcare solely into a profit making venture...but now our brilliant politicians are turning it into a lottery that 6% of us hope we don't win.
You can't MAKE this shit up.
I knew that that wrinkled up old bastard Harry Reid would fuck this up.
Can you clarify that figure for me? many will stay with their private insurance. the poor are covered by county and state programs. I had read that the reform will bring insurance to 31 million that are currently not insured.
So the bill does not cover 94% of americans, right? And what are the circumstances under which the last 6% would not be covered?
An "activist judge" says the Katrina buck stops with Dumbya. Laundry hangers get scrutiny. Army suicides are up from last year. Afghanistan is causing Barry to lose popularity points. The U.S. lags behind the rest of the industrialized world in terms of sick days and benefits at work. European pro-business politicians are finding themselves converting to socialism, for some reason. How committed are Americans to the environment? Trying foreign terrorists in federal courts works. A "nonpartisan" panel partly holds Arnie responsible for the state's next deficit, but thinks cutting even more social services is the "solution". Smaller businesses are cutting back on health care coverage for their employees. Steve Cooley says he doesn't care about the will of the people of California or the L.A. City Council on medical marijuana. Afghanis attribute poverty and corruption as the cause of their current war. Moussaoui did the "unAmerican" action of praising our legal system.
today on countdown they mentioned the
hughmoderate lines of people waiting in line for
a signed copy of
palin'sthe ghostwriter's bookas FOP or plural FOPS. this stands for friends of palin
i think it is better served as:
feeds on poop or the plural feeds on poopy stuff
Her Indian name Fucks Old People.
lmao, thanks
Now it is time to send an email message and a telephone call to the offices of Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and tell them to vote for the health care bill with the Public Option to keep the costs down for the consumers.
Does the public option keep costs down by denying coverage to 6% of Americans and creating a side revenue through fines?
Sounds like a great piece of re-form.
first comes the technical vote just
so it can be debated. we are getting closer
to the real bill. house and senate bills, when
it comes, still have to be sent to a committee
for adjustment into a single bill.
Ooh I can't wait to get some work done on my butt. This debate has left its mark.
is that you?

Republican senators on Wednesday blocked an effort to debate a bill that would prevent credit card companies from raising interest rates ahead of new regulations coming into force next year.
The move angered congressional Democrats who were pushing for an emergency freeze on credit card rates.
GNA! :)
of anything about Palin. Ed Schultz on his radio show said he isn't going to cover it unless he is ordered to. Can't say I blame him.
KSM. Who'da thought?

Nobody, if they can export the job to a country that pays 30 cents an hour or cloce to it.

The old boss.
Sanford to go before an ethics panel. The 2010 job market still sucks.
• If Connecticut follows its reelection of Joe Lieberman to the U.S. Senate by replacing Chris Dodd with a Republican, the state must be forced out of the union until it convinces Maine that gay marriage is not the end of the world.
• If Lou Dobbs runs for office, he must be forced to produce his birth certificate and proof of residency to the national media, and any papers he offers must be deemed forgeries.
• If President Obama signs a health care bill that virtually undoes Roe v. Wade and forces people to buy private insurance plans without offering a public option as matter of right for all citizens, he must be stricken with a serious, degenerative, life savings-depleting illness, and told by the very CEOs with whom he has been negotiating that he will no longer be covered under any policy.
• If the United States electorate responds to the Democrats' inability to solve the country's problems quickly by returning the Republicans to power, its land must be split up, some sections returned to Native tribes, and other sections returned to their respective European colonial governors.
• If Republican congresspeople kill legislation that would prevent credit card companies from arbitrarily jacking up interest rates by phenomenal amounts, their addresses must be listed in ads in Craigslist's "free" section reading, "Everything in the house must go."
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that is killing America!
I for one don't like brooks any more then I like mcconnell, or whorin hatch.
I don't get it brooks and the republicans have been wrong for over thirty years yet they still have followers that think they are spot on?
I have been told that I am using the same tactics that the GOP uses.
I say how?
I didn not lie or make up things about them. I have only stated, what I think, are the only conclusion, that can be drawn from the last thirty years, but has come into the direct light in the last 9 years.
These people the leaders of the GOP are very sick people!
The people that follow are the part that really bothers me!
Like good little nazi's they do and believe what they are told. What a shame what a shame.

If
the Democrats pass this piece of crap may they all rot in hell…
Not that there is such a place.
The parsing of the language is critical:
'…reductions in the growth of Medicare.' What about across the board reductions in the growth of health care, which would mean not-for-profit health insurance, for instance.
George Orwell, Politics and the English Language, 1949 here
Poor David Brooks. Must be so disheartening to see his beloved Republican Party in such disarray.
andy gump
(moved, damnably damn sign-ins).
...but I've had it up to here (I'm holding my hand about a foot above my head) with the Palins, Prejeans, Rash Windbags, Becks, Hannities who, when they talk to each other are in a constant ass-kissing fest, but when some interloper from the "LIBRUL MEDIA" asks any question that might impune their "integrity" or doubt their "veracity", the aforementioned LIBRUL MEDIA is being inappropriate. What a load of horseshit!!
The best thing I see about their mis(behavior) is that, like any clowns, they will continue to lose any credibility when their base discover that the political celebrities are vapid, banal, insipid, transparent charlatans!
What a load!!
I greatly enjoy Mr. Brooks articles. They are wonderful tidbits of satire and wry comedy.
Cheney should run in 2012.

Classic organization of the headline...that about covers it.
President Obama has nominated Dana Perino, George W. Bush's last press secretary and a frequent critic of the new administration, to a board overseeing government-sponsored international broadcasting.
Dana Perino was appointed late Wednesday to the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG).
"I'm honored by the president's announcement and I'm looking forward to serving on the bipartisan board, if I'm confirmed," Perino said.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) reportedly urged the Obama administration to appoint Perino.

WTF? We're doomed.
I haven't had any coffee yet. Gonna come back and reread that in a few minutes. I'm hoping that wasn't what I just read.
"Going Broke" is more like it, what with Sarah Failin's addiction to Gucci and the money running out.
I expect to see this book "packaged" with other stuff (e.g. GOP memberships) to boost sales, then in the $3 bin by February.
