Week after week, year after year, Bobo swims from spotlight to spotlight across the blighted media landscape of a country his ideology helped to mutilate...speaking gauzily of a sane, reasonable Republican Party that does not exist.

Speaking of books, I just heard a lecture and interview with the author of "The Wrecking Crew," in which he described chapter and verse about exactly how the conservatives destroyed our government regulatory power and economy. For a long time, I have been referring to the Bush administration as a kleptocracy. He documents it, with passion. It makes me want to weep for what they've done to our country.

You can buy it cheap on Amazon.com:

corporatism? have we ever really had a free market (since the 1840's that is), or is free market these days used as a euphemism for corporatism?

Yet another pointless, sophomoric and redundant photoshop picture. Usually Bluegal supplies us with these meaningless jabs. "driftglass"? Not enough guts to put your real name out there? Palin is a disease not a cartoon. Brooks is an enemy of the all working men and women on this planet, not a buffoon. He has a job. He does it better than you do.

jhunter99844? Hypocrite. It may also have escaped your notice but parody and satire are much more effective tools for puncturing the inflated egos of the self-perceived high and mighty than your perpetual whine. That never rises above mildly irritating. Both Bluegal and Driftglass do this much, much, better than you.

Thom Hartmann talks with Don Siegelman, ex-Gov of Alabama who was driven from office and incarcerated on politically motivated (Karl Rove) charges.

Siegelman's appeal is going before the Supreme Court.

Siegelman answers the question, "Are you surprised the Obama administration is opposing your appeal?"

His answer goes to the heart of the problem at Obama's Dept of Justice.

Scary stuff ..

DougJ's summation of Bobo's latest column:

I would be remiss if I didn’t point out how awful the first two paragraphs of Bobo’s piece are, not just because they summarize all of American history in four sentences, but because of the way the opening resembles an unholy marriage of Neil Young’s “Helpless” and the last chapter of The Great Gatsby.

Somehow he manages to link the impact of flights of flocking geese in the 1500's to divorce rates in modern America.

So...the Senate healthcare bill will cover all but 6% of Americans.

It's bad enough turning healthcare solely into a profit making venture...but now our brilliant politicians are turning it into a lottery that 6% of us hope we don't win.

You can't MAKE this shit up.

I knew that that wrinkled up old bastard Harry Reid would fuck this up.

"Anyone that makes less than $150K in this country, has no business voting Republican."

curtilingus's picture
:p?

Can you clarify that figure for me? many will stay with their private insurance. the poor are covered by county and state programs. I had read that the reform will bring insurance to 31 million that are currently not insured.

So the bill does not cover 94% of americans, right? And what are the circumstances under which the last 6% would not be covered?

Republican senators on Wednesday blocked an effort to debate a bill that would prevent credit card companies from raising interest rates ahead of new regulations coming into force next year.

The move angered congressional Democrats who were pushing for an emergency freeze on credit card rates.

If

• If Connecticut follows its reelection of Joe Lieberman to the U.S. Senate by replacing Chris Dodd with a Republican, the state must be forced out of the union until it convinces Maine that gay marriage is not the end of the world.

• If Lou Dobbs runs for office, he must be forced to produce his birth certificate and proof of residency to the national media, and any papers he offers must be deemed forgeries.

• If President Obama signs a health care bill that virtually undoes Roe v. Wade and forces people to buy private insurance plans without offering a public option as matter of right for all citizens, he must be stricken with a serious, degenerative, life savings-depleting illness, and told by the very CEOs with whom he has been negotiating that he will no longer be covered under any policy.

• If the United States electorate responds to the Democrats' inability to solve the country's problems quickly by returning the Republicans to power, its land must be split up, some sections returned to Native tribes, and other sections returned to their respective European colonial governors.

• If Republican congresspeople kill legislation that would prevent credit card companies from arbitrarily jacking up interest rates by phenomenal amounts, their addresses must be listed in ads in Craigslist's "free" section reading, "Everything in the house must go."

Everyone is equally entitled to the pursuit of happiness. Wasn't that once self evident?

I for one don't like brooks any more then I like mcconnell, or whorin hatch.
I don't get it brooks and the republicans have been wrong for over thirty years yet they still have followers that think they are spot on?
I have been told that I am using the same tactics that the GOP uses.
I say how?
I didn not lie or make up things about them. I have only stated, what I think, are the only conclusion, that can be drawn from the last thirty years, but has come into the direct light in the last 9 years.
These people the leaders of the GOP are very sick people!
The people that follow are the part that really bothers me!
Like good little nazi's they do and believe what they are told. What a shame what a shame.

If

the Democrats pass this piece of crap may they all rot in hell…

Not that there is such a place.

The parsing of the language is critical:

Mr. Reid said the bill, despite a price tag of $848 billion over 10 years, would reduce projected budget deficits by $130 billion over a decade because the costs would be more than offset by new taxes and fees and by reductions in the growth of Medicare.

'…reductions in the growth of Medicare.' What about across the board reductions in the growth of health care, which would mean not-for-profit health insurance, for instance.

What a load of horseshit!!

The best thing I see about their mis(behavior) is that, like any clowns, they will continue to lose any credibility when their base discover that the political celebrities are vapid, banal, insipid, transparent charlatans!

President Obama has nominated Dana Perino, George W. Bush's last press secretary and a frequent critic of the new administration, to a board overseeing government-sponsored international broadcasting.
Dana Perino was appointed late Wednesday to the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG).

"I'm honored by the president's announcement and I'm looking forward to serving on the bipartisan board, if I'm confirmed," Perino said.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) reportedly urged the Obama administration to appoint Perino.
