Missouri law enforcement profiling Ron Paul and Bob Barr supporters as possible terrorists? That's what a new study sanctioned by the state claims.
Domestic terrorism is a subject or discussion I'm all for having. But this 1 million people on a terrorist watch list is not a good step as far as I can tell throughout history.
http://www.kansascity.com/news/breaking_news/...
maybe not as much as you think... SOME Ron Paul and Bob Barr supporters
are the goose steppin', doc martin wearin', skinhead asshole types.
And when those types are coordinated, and carrying out whatever "missions" they are on...they tend to behave like terrorists...
I know a few folks who like Paul and Barr, but they're no nazi's, they're reasonable intelligent people. Who just happen to think govt should be run differently than I do...
They shouldn't be on any lists...
The US has the highest incarceration rate and the biggest prison population of any country in the world. With 5 percent of the world's population, the US has 25 percent of the world's prison inmates.
Ron Paul on legalizing marijuana: "... the real regulation should come from the individual, the family, the parents and the community; that's what prevents drug use, not some Federal Thug coming in with guns and arresting some kid and throwing him in prison for life."
The War on Drugs is notoriously corrupt. The government makes money in the drug trade. They destabilized communities in the eighties shipping in crack cocaine. They are protecting the poppy fields over in Afghanistan. It's a damn joke. And it needs to be stopped. And a national dialogue among the adults needs to take place. Grow Up and grow Pot. Hemp for Victory!
Nuff said.
I was surprised to hear the AG of Arizona say that 60-70% of drug gang income is from pot. Legalizing it would really take the wind out of their sales.

Interesting bit about penguin chicks whose parents don't return from gathering food (eaten by seals, etc). Shows the orphaned chicks trying to bond with parents that already have a chick, but they get rejected by those parents. Then chick-less female penguins fight, in vain, to "adopt" the chicks.
that's all that guy is. He is interested in his career.
I liked his acting, but could never understand how he and others went all weak sister after 9/11.
it was Stockholm syndrome
9/11 reduced many men to children. I am guessing that's what happened to him. I'd have to say it didn't work out real well for them though considering the record of the last eight years since then.
I think that's the goal of some psychological operations. Shock and Awe. Torture etc.
Putting the blinders on is never a good long term strategy.
Edit: Yeah Stockholm syndrome, like Truth says. That's the concept I was looking for. Much more succinct way of putting it. I was trying to describe it.
I haven't seen a specific example of this, but it would be funny if a person that wasn't afraid of their government (typical NRA member) was afraid of Al Queda hurting them. Because they feel safe that they have enough firepower to handle the Feds, it would seem odd if they were afraid of the vague threat posed by foreign terrorists.

Crappy economy means less ad revenue and less old white people to hear their rants means cancellation.
"less" is correct for general things, "fewer" is correct for specific items.
Less production. Fewer cars.
Less business. Fewer sales.
Less rain. Fewer drops.
Fewer is used with countable nouns, and less with uncountable nouns.
1 book, 2 books, 3 books (we can count)-- so we say fewer books.
Question is-- How many?
We can't/don't count water (air, sugar), so we say less water.
Questionis-- How much?

I'm just heart broke about this.
Oh, less, fewer. Whatever. Interesting story regardless.

I say Kucinich was the real one, I am still weary of Ron Paul.
What I see on you tube, the recent videos before they are pulled and/or buried makes me think Alex Jones maybe right.
Alex is for surely going threw even more torcher and mental harassment than I. that would make me understand even more his craziness. The suspect allegedly painted "Living in hotel. Money running out. Nowhere to live" on nearby wall.
Moody's - one of the big 3 credit rating agencies with an official government endorsement - helped cause the financial crisis by keeping the ratings of failing companies artificially high.
Moody's shareholders are now suing in federal court, saying that Moody's misrepresented the fact that its ratings are impartial. Once it became clear that Moody's was gaming its ratings, its share price plunged - 75% since February 2007.
http://georgewashington2.blogspot.com/2009/03...
the ratings agency that went under a few years ago? Was it an accounting agency?
the accounting firm for Enron.
Changed their name to Accenture. Enron went out of business after screwing over tons of people in California, employees, retirees, and shareholders and was most likely responsible for the recall of Democratic Gov. Gray Davis due to the manufactured energy crisis there.
Enron was a big player in the fake energy crisis on the West Coast. They were selling energy on the West Coast for 5 to 10 times what it is worth. How does a company not make money when they are robbing people blind? Where the hell did all the money go? When they busted Enron the company should of had tens of billions of dollars sitting around.
It seems like the Feds allowed the same type of mistakes to be made through not learning from the past. Moody's was paid by the banks to rate their investments. The peanut company paid an firm to rate its products. Is it any surprise that the companies made their clients look good?
And the media does not hold this man responsible or accountable...
Cheney on CNN: Obama has made America 'less safe'
Unbelievable that an international war criminal can go on air and call out our current President for making us less safe and no one calls him out on his role in 9/11, torture, or the Anthrax attacks. We live in a backwards world. We're in the twilight zone fool and we need to dig ourselves out.
Bush was totally a Bizzaro president.
because dickie-boy was the real president.
Of course, Bush is ultra-bizzaro to begin with. There are some freaky genes in that family. Pappy and Babs spawned truly evil offspring.
How nice that Babs just got a new pig valve implanted in her chest. In a way, it is quite appropriate.
he kept us safe, except for the anthrax.
What more do you want? He was a war president, what to be a peace president. Please don't tell me you want him to have read those PDBs.
well, and the wars. And the economic meltdown. And the scorn of the rest of the world...

What a shame NBC put a wimpy, ball-less twit like David Gregory up to doing a job only a man like Tim Russert could handle. Hell, even the interim guy, Tom Brokaw, was better than this geek.
think Russert was unbiased. He was as right wing as Lou Dobbs and possibly even Hannity or BillO.
Yeah I'd like to see a real journalist have access to these assholes. A modern day Mike Wallace like Luke Rudkowski. A mad man like Alex Jones. A cool calm and collected truth advocate like Barrie Zwicker. Anyone who would ask real Questions of these Asshats. Rosie O'Donnell would make for a better journalist than these corporate clowns. Robert Wanek has more balls than these grown ass men. Thom Hartmann would be good. Mike Malloy would be entertaining. We need real journalists.
1) where would you find a journalist?
2) where would you find a repug willing to face real scrutiny?

Robert Reich posted the best commentary on the AIG scandal... and this REALLY is a scandal!... and I agree with him 100%. Here it is in total:
Don't we own 80% of AIG? If that's the case, why isn't the government taking over its operation, INCLUDING THE PAYMENT OF BONUSES TO LOSERS WHO LOST MONEY!
The "Nationalization" argument is meaningless if, without federal control, we are throwing tax money into the pockets of the people who made the problem in multi-million dollar handfuls.
I keep hearing the "too big to fail" argument and I keep thinking that the only thing too big to fail is the United States of America... and we know from the history of countries going down the centuries that WE CAN FAIL, TOO. Nothing or no one is too big to fail.
We voted the Republicans out of office across the board because they FAILED. We expected that EVERYTHING would be approached in a different manner. Let's get to it.

"The bailouts of American International Group are also rescues of its trading partners — banks and other financial firms — that would have lost out if the insurer had been allowed to fail. But even after four bailouts between last September and this March, no one knows with certainty who those partners are or how much of the bailout money, now totaling $160 billion, has gone to make them whole.
And that is not necessarily the whole story. In the manic years of this decade, credit default swaps took off as a way to bet on the likelihood of default by a firm or an investment portfolio, without having to own any financial interest in the firm or portfolio. That is definitely not insurance, it is gambling."
Why you don't run the world like its a corporation: A.I.G. Planning $165 Million in Bonuses After Huge Bailout - http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/15/business/15...
"The American International Group, which has received more than $170 billion in taxpayer bailout money from the Treasury and Federal Reserve, plans to pay about $165 million in bonuses by Sunday to executives in the same business unit that brought the company to the brink of collapse last year.
The bonuses will be paid to executives at A.I.G.’s financial products division, the unit that wrote trillions of dollars’ worth of credit-default swaps that protected investors from defaults on bonds backed in many cases by subprime mortgages."

Zionism is the problem - http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentar...
To be Jewish, I was raised to believe, meant understanding oneself as a member of a tribe that over and over had been cast out, mistreated, slaughtered. Millenniums of oppression that preceded it did not entitle us to a homeland or a right to self-defense that superseded anyone else's. If they offered us anything exceptional, it was a perspective on oppression and an obligation born of the prophetic tradition: to act on behalf of the oppressed and to cry out at the oppressor.
For the last several decades, though, it has been all but impossible to cry out against the Israeli state without being smeared as an anti-Semite, or worse. To question not just Israel's actions, but the Zionist tenets on which the state is founded, has for too long been regarded an almost unspeakable blasphemy.
Yet it is no longer possible to believe with an honest conscience that the deplorable conditions in which Palestinians live and die in Gaza and the West Bank come as the result of specific policies, leaders or parties on either side of the impasse.
The problem is fundamental: Founding a modern state on a single ethnic or religious identity in a territory that is ethnically and religiously diverse leads inexorably either to politics of exclusion (think of the 139-square-mile prison camp that Gaza has become) or to wholesale ethnic cleansing. Put simply, the problem is Zionism.

"Passing voter ID legislation is quickly becoming one of the GOP's top issues for the 2009 legislative session...Georgia lawmakers have also been leading the second wave of voter ID restrictions. There have been several proof-of-citizenship bills introduced in Georgia so far this session...
Voting rights advocates have long argued that voter fraud is statistically insignificant to the point of being nonexistent...Instead, voting rights advocates point out that what has been proven time and time again, is that the risk of voter disenfranchisement stemming from voter ID is much more real than any voter fraud the laws are meant to prevent."

Obama Admin - Gitmo detainees have no Constitutional rights
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Obama_administr...
sounds almost Cheney-esque.
So much for the value of dropping that "enemy combatant" phrase.
I guess it was just for lefty feel-goodism.
Court documents were filed Friday by Obamas lawyers arguing that Gitmo detainees have no constitutional rights. Also in the brief Obamas lawyers argue that Rumsfeld and other officers should be immune from prosecution because' detainees right not to be tortured was not clearly established. This is just more of the same old shit, and something I didn't vote for.
If the Constitution only protects citizens that would be true, but only in the narrowest interpretation.
Generally the Constitution doesn't refer to the rights of citizens in the police and court procedural articles, but the accused, so a broader reading is possible.
Additionally, the third article gives the Supreme Court the power to enforce international treaties, which would presumably include the Geneva Convention.
but Obama isn't going to use the phrase "enemy combatant" anymore.
Isn't that some Change?
