Go Home

Bush's last stand....

Bush gave his last speech to the American people tonight and finally his reign is coming to an end. He looked haggard and old after never fulfilling his promise of eight years of compassion. Instead we got corruption, cronyism, unaccountability, wars, lies, torture and a virus that has infected the entire government that leads us. Departments were filled with extreme Christians and Cheney loyalists right out of Regent University. That would be Pat Robertson's college.

America has turned its collective back on movement conservatism as we witnessed this tragedy unfold before our eyes. Obama has replaced it with hope and optimism and a chance to undo some of the harm his administration has caused with the help of the David Addington's and John Yoo's.

I found this reference rather interesting in his speech:

President Thomas Jefferson once wrote, "I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past." As I leave the house he occupied two centuries ago, I share that optimism.

Of course he'd rather look to the future. When he looks back at his past actions---it must bring enormous pain. It does to most of America.

Debunking the Bush kept US Safe FALLACY :

Imagine you have 10 kids ...

2 die in a terrorist attack ...

3 are sent off to find or kill the perpetrators ...

ALL 3 die in the war and after 8 years the perpetrator is still sending Farewell Greeting Cards ...

Now how SAFE do the remaining 5 of your kids feel ?

Bush: Sending 4000+ off to die in the guise of atoning for a terrorist act that killed 3000+ while STILL NOT ACCOMPLISHING the very mission set out for in the first place DOES NOT COUNT as keeping the country safe ...

I STILL DO NOT FEEL SAFE ...

Bush/ Cheney, and even Obama has gotten into the act of saying,"bin Laden is not that important." This is a slap in the face to Americans, especially family members who lost someone at the WTC and the pentagon.

Knowing these devious sons of bitches as we do, you could almost think they didn't want to capture bin Laden because it might send the signal that the so-called war on terror was over. That would not be helpful in their crusade to turn the middle east upside down.
I would add to the original story that says Bush filled his administration with "extreme Christians." How about those "extreme Jews" such as Richard Perle, Wolfowitz, Abrams, Abramoff, Feith...the list goes on.

I am so sick of this clown dropping 9/11 as an excuse to do anything- An irony, since he never seemed interested in 9/11 anyway given that he went after Hussein instead of Bin laden.

I'm sick to death of hearing conservaties harping and bitching about 9/11- If the US didn't have such an imperialist approach in the middle east, 9/11 would never have happened, so frankly we got what we deserved. It's akin to standing under a hornet's nest, whacking it with a stick, and acting all surprised when you get stung by angry hornets. And given the 'I don't give a sh*t' attitude most Americans have for the hundreds of of thousands (possibly a million) civilians killed in Bush's war in Iraq, there seems a disproportionate ammount of grieving aimed at the few thousand Americans who died on 9/11.

Problem is Bush took 9/11 not as a chance to re-evaulate our middle east foreign policy, but rather as an excuse to push the neocon/Christo fascist agenda.
We need to look forward, not backwards, and hopefully repair this nation from the damage wrought bu Bush and his minions, and be less imperialist in the way we interact with middle eastern nations, and be less of a puppet to a certain middle eastern ally....

I hope Obama is up for the challenge.

upchuck's picture

I was in the Army stationed in Germany when Sept 11th happened. My first thoughts were "OMFG they are going to get so stupid after this". I was right. A few days later I saw a piece of graffiti painted on a wall that said; "Now you know how it feels". Yep, that is what it comes down too. The US bombs country after country thinking that they are God's gift to the Universe and can do whatever the hell they want with NO RAMIFICATIONS. Someone comes along and slaps us back into place and everybody goes NUTS. Sept. 11th wasn't that big of a deal. The United States does the exact same thing to country after country... year after year. I know. I was a part of it for 10 years. You all watched it on the news. Country after Country... na... they will never hit us back.

I'm so tired of hearing the fear mongering from Bush, and the neocons. They did not keep America safe, they kept Americans living in fear. They attacked our Constitution, and our civil liberties. Addington, Bush, Cheney, and Yoo (to name a few) did this to America, not some old man in the mountains of Afghanistan. If that day never happened then they would have found another day, and other excuses to take a marker to the Bill of Rights redacting what civil liberties they did not want us to have.

Fox news, has in the last 8 years been the Republican Party propaganda network- With the Republicans and Bush discredited- How will this affect Fox? I suspect from day one they will reject their past assertions that any criticism of the president is unpatriotic, and will do everything to tear Obama down...

Google_Meister's picture

Straight from the speech. Freudian slip? or not? In my opinion, Americans are more prone to propaganda, so for this, I will spoon feed. A republic is defined as;

"A republic is a state or country that is not led by a hereditary monarch but in which the people (or at least a part of its people) have an impact on its government."

Whereas a democracy;

"Even though there is no universally accepted definition of 'democracy', there are two principles that any definition of democracy includes. The first principle is that all members of the society have equal access to power and the second that all members enjoy universally recognized freedoms and liberties."

Personally, I view it as a Republic / Plutocracy / Theocracy, at this point in time, For reference;

In a plutocracy, the degree of economic inequality is high while the level of social mobility is low.

Theocracy is a form of government in which a god or deity is recognized as the state's supreme civil ruler,[1] or in a broader sense, a form of government in which a state is governed by immediate divine guidance or by officials who are regarded as divinely guided.

Although the world has always had disagreements with the US, there was always respect. Everybody respected US businessmen, banks, companies. That is all gone. They are all viewed as vultures now. Fellow American posters on here rightfully point out my skepticism of Obama. Well, hate to break it to you, but I am far from alone, regardless what you read or see in the media. You have to earn trust and respect, it isn't given. Bush successfully spent what you had. When the doofus was first "selected" the world kind of ignored it, and kind of thought, how much harm could he possibly do. He showed it. Then the second term selection, and the world went, WTF? Are you people completely nuts? THAT was the point in time when anti-Americanism seemed to explode, even at coffee shops in my area. Years before his time, John Cooper Clarke wrote an ode to our outgoing chimperor.

I'm really looking forward to a government run by people who are smarter than I am!

Just. Go. Already.

"Murdering the innocent for ideology is wrong"

Did he really say that?

Corrupt, you're corrupt
Bring corruption to all that you touch
Hold, you behold
And beholden for all that you've done
And Spin, cast a spell
Cast a spell on the country you run
And risk, you will risk
You will risk all the lives and their souls
And burn, you will burn
You will burn in hell
Yeah you'll burn in hell
You'll burn in hell
Yeah you'll burn in hell
For your sins

Our freedom's consuming itself
What we've become
Is contrary to what we want
Take a bow

Death, you bring death
And destruction to all that you touch
Pay, you must pay
You must pay for your crimes against the earth
Hex, feed the hex
Feed the hex on the country you love
And beg, you will beg
You will beg for the lives and their souls
And burn, you will burn
You will burn in hell
Yeah you'll burn in hell
You'll burn in hell
Yeah you'll burn in hell
Burn in hell
Yeah you'll burn in hell
For your sins

OJ

He'll be a social pariah who no one will want near them. George "OJ" Bush.
Hopefully, the other inmates will snub him too.

Gunsandbigots's picture

Bush and Cheney are too high up. Unlike OJ, they'll never be hauled before a judge and jury to face their crimes. They will get by with their treasonous act of outing a CIA agent who was working to keep America safe, they will get by with lying the nation into war, they will get by with killing over 4500 Americans - about 1500 more than Osama killed in a war that should never have been fought http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8MePwb6TEk, they will get by being responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi men, women and children, they will get by with trashing the constitution, they will get by gross governing negligence of Katrina and gross governing incompetence that has pushed America to the brink of a Depression.

"When the president does it, it's not illegal" - Richard Nixon.

I think Arianna Huffington sums up Chimp's speech best

Of course he'd rather look to the future. When he looks back at his past actions---it must bring enormous pain. It does to most of America.

I'm starting to feel bad for the guy. Isn't this kind of like beating a dead horse? A dumb, dead horse...

that the main responsability of an American President is to protect the Republic and its citizens. He dropped the ball and now he congratulates himself just because they didn't come and hit us a second time.
What kind of fucking logic is that?

In the satirical piece, the drug addict begs the alcoholic to help him. He yells "Hey old dude, tell me some lies so I won't have to deal with the truth!" That's Bush. The "truth" is a long, continuous nightmare, tormenting this jackass.

Your comment reminded me of Pryor's alcoholic character standing on a street corner as an ice cream truck goes by. "Cut that God##n bell off...this is a neighborhood not a God##n residential area!"

Remember him promising that some three years ago? I knew it was sheer lip service.

Why does it seam like he’s telling a joke but never gets to the punch line?

This is what I would like to see nicknamed as the "I Am Not A Snook Speech."
