Joe Klein is very, very shrill and I have to say I agree with him.

I'm of two minds about how to deal with the McCain campaign's further descent into ugliness. Their strategy is simple: you throw crap against a wall and then giggle as the media try to analyze the putresence in a way that conveys a sense of balance: "Well, it is bull-pucky, but the splatter pattern is interesting..." which, of course, only serves to get your perverse message out. I really don't want to be a part of that. But...every so often, we journalists have a duty to remind readers just how dingy the McCain campaign, and its right-wing acolytes in the media (I'm looking at you, Sean Hannity) have become--especially in their efforts to divert public attention from the economic crisis we're facing. And so inept at it: other campaigns have decided that their only shot is going negative, but usually they don't announce it, as several McCain aides have in recent days--there's no way we can win on the economy, so we're going to go sludge-diving.
But since we are dealing with manure here, I'll put the rest of this post below the fold...read on

Do you folks ever go to Muzzlewatch. They post lots of blogs on issues that the MSM and most of the so called progressive blogosphere will not touch. Here is and article about How folks from progressive blogs have taken free trips to Israel. HMMMM similar to our congress people who have been bought off by the radical side of the Israeli lobby. I have been calling out the so called progressive blogosphere for years no the blog clogs when it comes to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Back in April, we were very upset to learn that the Israeli Foreign Ministry was organizing an all-expenses-paid trip to Israel for progressive American leaders and bloggers, led by the director of the National Jewish Democratic Council. (See the video above for folks you’ll recognize from outfits like HuffingtonPost, DailyKos, MyDD, and MoveOn. Let us know if you recognize any progressive Israeli leaders like folks from Rabbis for Human Rights, New Profile, ICAHD, or Tayush or… ).
Apparently, this was the first trip to Israel for the bloggers. Participants went to Sderot to see the devastation wrought by Qassam rockets, but needless to say, the group didn’t bother to head to the West Bank or Gaza beyond a meeting in Ramallah with the PA’s chief negotiator.
We wrote to some bloggers to urge that them to visit the Palestinian Occupied Territories, but got no response. At the time, most were keeping their names secret. (We think it was shame–how many of these folks actually wrote about the propaganda educational trip they were on? The few who did deserve kudos for their transparency. )
Israel, AIPAC and private philanthropists have long funded free trips to Israel as a way to shore up support for Israel’s so-called “war on terror”. What was so shocking was the ease with which left bloggers and leaders allowed themselves to be purchased with the promise of a free trip. (There’s no doubt about the objective of the trip.)
Now, Richard Silverstein at Tikun Olam points out, that the issue has been deliberately cleansed from one of the internet’s most influential liberal blogs.
Silverstein reports a recent interaction with a blogger who apparently has some sort of official capacity at DailyKos beyond a Diarist:
I introduced myself to the visiting blogger as a local political blogger who writes about U.S.-Israel relations and the presidential election. I asked her whether her blog (remember, I didn’t at the time know it was DK) ever covered the foreign policy implications of the Israeli-Arab conflict.
She shook her head sagely and said: “No.” I asked her why. “Because there’s just no upside in it for us. Too much dissension and disagreement.”
What made Klein come around, amazing!

At a recent McPalin rally, there were shouts of "terrorist, kill him, treason" and McPalin said nothing.

Palin by her smirk and silence actually became an abettor to the domestic terrorist who shouted out the death threat yesterday during one of her rallies.
These rallies have become "terrorist grounds" at this point and it needs to be stopped. The man who made the "death threat" needs to be slammed into jail immediately as a terrorist under the Patriot Act.
These hate rallies need to be stopped immediately. Yesterday, they were shaking sticks and clubs at the press. How is this not a "terrorist rally"??
How does this NOT qualify as an incitement to terror by McCain and Palin as the domestic terrorist leaders?
People should be absolutely revolted today at hearing these death threats and seeing these two morons smirk and smile as though it's okay.
It's not Okay; what's more, it's against the law. The Sheriff who wat there condoning it needs to be slapped in jail himself. This was shameful, criminal and needs investigation.
This form of terrorist rally where death threats are audibly heard on national television need to be promptly stopped. Palin doesn't have the presence of mind (dolt) or clout to do anything more than smile when she heard it. McCain is no better - he smiled. These two sickos need to be stopped - they're beginning to resemble Hitler in the incitement of violence against others.

So, I am watching the local TV station, and their promo for the 6 PM news is recylced over and over and over...
In the promo, they give a 3-4 sentence smear by McCain, then a 3-4 sentence smear job by Palin, then the commentator adds that the Obama campaign is going to get personal also. The commentator obliquely refers to the Keating-5 scandal, then cuts to a silent video of Obama making a speech as the announcer cuts out.
Two sound bites are repeated over and over and over...no reply from Obama allowed.
All 5 cable stations have been recently "outed" for their "payoff" in a John McCain Presidency....just name the station....I'll tell you how many millions of dollars they plan to receive in tax breaks from John McCain.....pretty much tells you why our media can no longer be trusted, doesn't it?
Let's see that list of McCain tax breaks for the media!

I cannot imagine any american who truly loves this country and abides by it's laws NOT being totally appalled at the death threats issued during Palin's Florida rally yesterday. This was the closest I've ever come in my lifetime to witnessing so flagrant a death-threat violation of existing laws in a public forum and not action being taken to escort this sick individual out and prosecute him for his death threat. What the hell is going on in this country?
When we, as a people, sit back and condone this type of vile, vulgar, and illegal activity to occur in the public arena - smiled on by two candidates - without anyone taking action, particularly when the local Sheriff did his level best to "ensure violence" by the invocation and emphasis on Obama's middle name (he's just as guilty of this death threat), then I know we have no recourse but to fall into total and irrevocable self-destruction.
It's time for each of us to DEMAND that these "domestic terrorist rallies" of the GOP/McCain Campaign be summarily halted - with these individuals being brought to justice.
Smears may be one thing; public death threats are something else entirely.
When we become domestic terrorists ourselves issuing public death threats, we deserve to find ourselves in jail for the rest of our lives....or worse.

Why is it that when the Keating 5 comes up every pundit seems obligated to say that "this was 20 years ago why bring this up now?" Andrea Mitchel can't say that enough these days.
Yet, nobody mentions that the Ayers association was a long time ago. Nobody asks why we are bringing up incidents from 40 years ago and a meeting that took place more than 20 years ago.
With the Keating 5 we are reminded constantly that no wrongdoing was found. Yet with Ayers nobody is asking why he isn't in jail, or executed, if he was so horrible.

We should all be prepared for the fact that Obama will not make it through his entire term before assasinated.

Just as McCain takes an Obama call for more troops in Afghanistan and makes it sound if he is calling our troops murderers, he could take Klein's column and say he called the traitor Alger Hiss a family friend and "a sweet old man." Until the rest of the press figures this out, they are doomed if McCain wins. It's not just my First Amendment, fellas.

I didn't see him complaining about the same exact tactics during the Bush-Gore campaign, or Bush-Kerry.
