Whither George W. Bush?

Given how things were from 2001 until the presidential campaign heated up, it's really quite stunning how George W. Bush is utterly missing from our discourse. The conservative movement was for that period all about elevating Dear Leader, and now he's just gone.
Some of it is because Dick Cheney has been so outspoken about his love of torture, but it's also the fact that Cheney had almost as much power as Bush himself. That was, until things started blowing up in GW's face.

Bush can't even get speaking engagements, which are the lifeblood of any retired politician. NOBODY wants him around. Amazing, isn't it?

First of all he was the first president to get a pay raise from $200k to $400k a year, meaning that if nothing else, he walked away with $3.2M.
That being said, Ive never felt that he actually WANTED to be president. Im sure he wanted to SAY that he was president, but he was a puppet from beginning to end, which explains his almost total intellectual incuriosity.

Not sure about the pretzels (his near-death experience might keep him away from that devil dough) but absolutely spot on about the beer. I'd bet a week's wages (if I had a job) that ol' W is face down on the couch, with the teevee blaring infomercials, completely besottted, while wifey sits in a pharmaceutically induced coma in the EZ chair next to him.
If anybody ever called him, I suspect it's the Secret Service men we're providing for him that actually answer the phone.

He's still useful. Whenever some winger makes some really crass comment about Obama they say they are justified. After all, they say, the lefties said some pretty horrible things about Bush, too. Of course, the fact that Bush deserved the harsh words never seems to cross their minds.
So he has nothing to say. The army of speechwriters and policymakers is gone, leaving an empty cipher with a fake Texas twang.
Looks like history has rendered it's verdict, and about time if you ask me.

Hardly. That land sits on top of one of the biggest aquifers on the planet. The Bush's own the right to all that water. And if that doesn't scare you, think of this...their 'neighbor' is the Rev. Moon. And his land holding is about 200 times that of the Bush's. Thinking ahead. One of these days fresh water will be more valuble than oil ever could be. Nice to know those evil bastards managed to get their greedy hands on it already.
He fulfilled his role, so there's no more use for him. He's likely just sitting around somewhere, just as oblivious as ever.

When Ted Kennedy died i was thinking about the comparison of the Kennedy family and the Bush family. The whole family. It is rather remarkable when you think about it.

The Kennedy family dedicates themselves to helping average people. Bush family helps only themselves. Years ago, speaking about the Kennedy young men, GHW said "Wait till you see what MY boys will do" Well, here we are at war on 2 fronts, drowning in red ink, taxpayers were on the hook to bail out S&L son Neal. Son Jeb was helped out by taxpayers in his own dirty dealings in Florida. Thanks, GHW. Too bad you did not divorce Babs when you wanted to, for Ms. Fitzgerald. Oh, by the way, George is out riding his bike. That's what Laura said during an interview this past weekend.
I have nothing against riding bikes but you would think that with a man in his position, his wife would be able to say something a little more substantial than that. Of course with George it is probably best if he stays away from almost anything.

The conservatives know that Bush's presidency was a failure. By the end of his term, everything conservatives believed turned into lies. So what you do is pretend that it never happened and try to blame all of the problems on Democrats. It's the only thing they can do.
