Three unreal videos

Last week over at StarkReports.com, I began asking Republican opponents of health care reform if they could tell me how many of their constituents are uninsured. I asked Joe Wilson, Steve King, Jim DeMint, Darryl Issa and Virginia Foxx. None of them could answer the question.

Today, after months of debate, the House vote is upon us. Steve King decided to rally the tea-baggers on the Capitol lawn one more time. About 15-25 other Republicans joined him on the stage at various times. I caught several of them as they made their way between their offices, the chamber and the rally. Once again, not a single republican I spoke with knew how many of their constituents are uninsured. The lonely guy in the middle of the video that did know? That's Dan Boren, a Blue Dog Democrat from Oklahoma...

Next up… Rep. Louie Gohmert (also in the first video) tells me my private insurance will be taken from me by this bill:

Finally, and I wish I could say the last video is shocking, but, alas, this is where we find ourselves today ... Representative Steven King, the leader of today’s anti-reform rally, tells a crowd that the Democratic bill requires the government to encourage suicide and/or assisted suicide. Not making it up; he’s explicit ... he uses those very words:

Will the DEMS that voted against reform be held accountable by the leaders of the Democratic Party (stripping them of chairmanships, etc) and by us the Voters (voting their sorry asses out of office)?
By God, I think they should...

Kucinich is one of them. Here's part of his explanation:

“But instead of working toward the elimination of for-profit insurance, H.R. 3962 would put the government in the role of accelerating the privatization of health care. In H.R. 3962, the government is requiring at least 21 million Americans to buy private health insurance from the very industry that causes costs to be so high, which will result in at least $70 billion in new annual revenue, much of which is coming from taxpayers. This inevitably will lead to even more costs, more subsidies, and higher profits for insurance companies — a bailout under a blue cross.

http://kucinich.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle...

Couldn't agree more. Does that make me a teabagger?

and he's right, but I think the American people need a foot in the door on this. I mean, honestly, if Kucinich had compromised SOME of his principles just to get elected, we might be better off.

:p?

C'mon CF the problem runs a lot deeper than Kucinich's positions. What should have he compromised on? Impeachment? Telecom Immunity? War crimes? His position to end the wars? Barak compromised everywhere and gave his people shit.

They have compromised their soul to the Company store..

Global Empires now own them...

Obama feed us a bunch of BS to get elected and looks as if he did not mean a d... word he made in any of his campaign speeches..

We give money to most of these countries which have better health care and other social programs than we have..

Just how do they justify this as a paygo..

Our military receives more than 54% of our national budget and they receive an increase every d... year to attack some country they have no business to..

We spend more on our military than all other countries combined and they say we spend too much on our citizens...

What a d... joke and just think It is OUR money we are spending anyway, the Global Empires have moved their manufacturing plants , jobs and wealth they have stolen from us overseas...

What has this completely controlled democratic government done for us since January 2009????????????

What have they done for these Global Corporations....
Bailouts,,,, Money to GM ,,, Money for clunkers(which the foreign car manufactures thanks us for buy THEIR cars)
we are being sold a bill of goods and how in the h... can we keep excepting it..
Now make sure that the government keeps spending OUR money around by giving control and more of our money to these Health & Drug Empires..

The democrats are the best vote getters for the republicans I have ever seem..

I thought after these disaster from Bush/Cheney and the republicans that our democrats would have nerve enough to do the right thing,,, but they are still spineless and now controlled by the lobbyist the same as the republicans have been.

You would like it if he compromised ALL of them like the rest of the democrats have.

Are you really serious that this if the best bill that the democrats could create..

This is nothing but a piece of garbage and everyone knows it..

It has nothing in it.

Israel's health care is just fine and the democrats have no problem and no paygo clause when they past legislation to send them billions of dollars each and every year with an inflation index in it for them. Yet they can not afford to give their own citizens a decent health care bill. We knew the republicans did not give a s... but you expect the democrats to be a LITTLE concern..

Everyone just like I and many others should be able to hook into the same type of health care as the seniors have,,, In fact we should even be able to make that even better...

Israel has maintained a system of socialized health care since its establishment in 1948, although the National Health Insurance law was passed only on January 1, 1995. The state is responsible for providing health services to all residents of the country, who can register with one of the four health service funds. To be eligible, a citizen must pay a health insurance tax. Coverage includes medical diagnosis and treatment, preventive medicine, hospitalization (general, maternity, psychiatric and chronic), surgery and transplants, preventive dental care for children, first aid and transportation to a hospital or clinic, medical services at the workplace, treatment for drug abuse and alcoholism, medical equipment and appliances, obstetrics and fertility treatment, medication, treatment of chronic diseases and paramedical services such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy.[

The Ministry of Health is responsible for the development of health policy, operation of the nation's public health services and management of the governmental health care budget. The government also owns and operates many of the nation's larger hospitals.

Israel as a Model for Health Care
According to Dr. Cayam and Prof. Mor Yosef, Israel's health care system has four key components: (1) universal coverage; (2) cradle to grave coverage; (3) coverage of both basic services and catastrophic care; and (4) coverage of all medications. Patients pay just a small co-payment to see specialists and to purchase medication, and primary care is free.

So, Israelis seem to have it pretty good: access to all their medical needs at a nominal fee!

But they must spend a fortune, right? Not so. All this costs about 8% of Israel's GDP, while the U.S. spends a whopping 17% of its GDP on health care.

By actually taking the time out to read and listen to another point of view, you are, by default not included in the teabaggery. We need more rationale...less tea.

and

we can only hope that the repugs will follow the way of lemmings , no offence to lemmings .

Send 'em to jail, instead.

Ask them about growing copays. Copays are growing to $40, $50 a pop. That means that every time someone with an issue like blood pressure or diabetes come in they are charge 40 to 50 dollars. Some people are in quite a bit with H1N1 issues. That gets expensive.

Another issue. The HSA plans. Great if the company where the employee works gives a bank account up front. I don't see that continuing however. These plans have a small cost per month but high deductible. By the end of the year families can owe thousands.

I see this as the next crisis like the housing bubble. We fix it now or we suffer later. The Republicans don't have a clue.

Nancy is going to take care of all of us.

LOL just like she took care of illegal wiretapping? Impeachment? Crimes against humanity? Torture? The bailout? Oversight?
Please.

in a slightly teabaggy kind of way.

whining begin.

Nancy does a better jobs than the Bush/Cheney/Republicans did for the last 8 years.

I didn't believe an administration could have been more criminal and corrupted as Reagan's was ,, but Bush/Cheney has done it..

The only problem is the democrats are so d... spineless they are letting the ?news? media and republicans pin the tail on them as the donkey..

Instead OF..

The big fellows with the large a.. nose which has caused the worst destruction to our nation as ever before and it will not stop for years to come....

talk to you. You do realize that once you become better-known, of course, that they will likely be less truthful, even if they remain equally ignorant.

Props.

and for the most part, they still chat with me. they understand that i'm a progressive reporter, but i'm fair. I report. I don't do anything more than ask the questions; if the answers they give are unfortunate, that's not something I can be blamed for.

Glad to see you here, and keep up the good work.

If you ask about the different plans, ask how the many state plans differ and how complicated they think that is going to become to health facilities because the health facilities have to collect from these many many plans. Doctors have to know which plan want referrals, which will cover certain procedures, which only cover so much in their state. Insurance is very complicated.

Not only that but can you imagine the overhead we're dealing with here? Everyone of those plans has a building own or rented, people to be paid, bills to be paid....on and on and on. The industry will suffer in the future if we start streamlining this but I think that is the future of this industry anyway because they have made themselves too complicated and expensive for the health care industry.

A Health Insurance Plan, or Government Health Insurance.

Judging from the manner the Government botches things up (Van down by the river not included) . . well

figure it out yourself

NO insurance at all!! Give me health CARE or give me death! Health INSURANCE is just another word for rip off.

Health CARE isn't like auto accidents. SOME people have auto accidents - ALL people need health care!

river eating gubbermint cheese!

I'll let my kids know they can stop catching the three-eyed catfish...

That makes absolutely no sense evet. Having no insurance for health care doesn't necessarily effect ones financial situation. Obviously I'll be dead and buried in a VA cemetery.

Reagan.

A Health Insurance Plan, or Government Health Insurance...or a fine/jailtime.

Government botches things up...more than big business? The big business that has made insurance unfordable? The big business that just failed spectacularly and still needed to get their bonuses?

News flash evet..government and big business ARE ALL THE SAME PEOPLE, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE...brace yourself now...WE LIVE IN A CORPORATOCRACY! How anyone could follow the money and even the least little bit of news and not see who runs the country and reaps the benefits is a mystery to me...Fox nation arguments are getting tediously old and looking increasingly ignorant of reality. The vast majority of our "leaders" work for corporate America. How one can miss something that they aren't even trying to hide anymore sure confounds me. Too much fox nation redirection is the only thing I can come up with.

You start asking republicans these questions they are going to look at you like a deer in the headlights because they have not gone to clinics or sat with people who have the issues. They have not climbed into the trenches with this issue because they don't want to. They know the answers they are going to get.

plus full benefits.

I'd like to take some of these people for a walk on the wild side so they can see the reality of whats going on right now.

That these "lawmakers" don't actually read the laws they are voting on (Rep. Steve King). I am not 100% in support of the democrap written bill, nor do I feel that enough time has been put on the republicrook bill. I feel like, yes, it's change, but maybe too much at one time for a government that doesn't even read the legislation it is either passing or denying. I'd rather see some existing things fixed FIRST before we go trusting the same agencies that run the DMV and Social Services attempt to completely upend our health care system. Anyone who's ever waited on line at the DMV or clinic knows EXACTLY what I'm saying too.

Those FEMA furnished trailers soaked with toxic fumes they delivered to Katrina homeless comes to mind also.

But this is the world we live in and this is the level playing field. We can't claim the higher ground while every other complicated, pork laden bill is pushed through without being read, either.

No

videos

Rep. Steve King is a liar. Here's the full text of the section he selectively quotes:

1
(b) Construction- Nothing in this section shall be construed--

(1) to require an individual to complete an advanced directive or a physician’s order for life sustaining treatment or other end-of-life planning document;
(2) to require an individual to consent to restrictions on the amount, duration, or scope of medical benefits otherwise covered under a qualified health benefits plan; or
1
(3) to encourage the hastening of death or the promotion of assisted suicide.

So it's the exact opposite of what King claims, but that's never stopped a lying conservative from trying to deceive the public.

I think he really hasn't taken the time to read the actual text of the bill. Some intern or colleague said, "Hey Steve, have you seen page XXX section X where it says 'to encourage the hastening of death or the promotion of assisted suicide.'?" He says, "By George, it does say that doesn't it?!?!" If he has read the bill, then shame on him for lying about what it actually says. If he hasn't read the bill, then shame on him for wasting tax payer money and hindering progress by people who actually care about what they are voting on. Either side of that coin is (un)shocking.

he wouldn't be having it rolled out so he could find the page. Regressives dont' need to know what the bill says to obstruct the bill.

I love all this "bill unrolling" that's going on too lol. It's so dramatic and well orchestrated. Some PR person said, "Look, while you're on the steps, you need to have a crumpled copy of the bill in your hands. This will give your constituents the impression that you are hard at work making choices on their behalf." It's all staged. It's all phony. They insult the intelligence of those of us who can see through it all. Vote all these bums out, left and right. The only problem with that is, next election cycle we'll be faced with either (s)electing A.) The same old bums or B.) Brand new bums. I'd venture to say that 90% of these idiots couldn't find their Mercedes keys without an intern nearby.

Of course he's lying. If the bill REALLY said that it ENCOURAGES SUICIDE, there would be a massive uproar throughout the capitol and in the media about it. But King knows his constituents are so ill-informed that he'll happily take things out of context knowing they'll believe everything he says is truth. It would be one thing if he thought it might say something about assisted-suicide, it's another when he makes a point of reading something out of context - especially if the context is only a few lines above the passage he's quoting. Agreed he probably hasn't read it, but could anyone hear something like that and make a light-hearted comment about it while unspooling a prop?

If you catch his last comment in the video Rep. King says "Yeah, that's what it says, ah, not necessarily what it means. This is government you know."

He is completely aware he is quoting out of context. He even has an aid there helping him find the proper 'partial' quote.

I encourage him to personally use the methods the mentions.

Where was that hypocrite King, literally a hypocrite king, unfolding those hundreds of thousands of pages GOP bills that were being pushed through no one had time to read that were giveaways to corporate America, the super rich and the defense contractors?

That's the idea Republicans have always been heavily invested in "Health Care" . . especially Big Pharm

How would they make money without sick people?

the ones that lie, lie, lie for their own agenda.

One must think about this..... No matter what is passed or is not passed.

An amendment was put forward to require Congress to join any plan that was passed.... along party lines it was shot down by Democrats.... If there is anything you must ask, ask this question to everyone in Congress.... If the plan you are proposing passes, why shouldn't Congress be on that same plan? If it would be a requirement for the people in Congress to abide by the same plan they are passing, I am sure the plan would be completely different. They are all HYPOCRITES!!

on Good Morning America, Oprah, Dianne, etc all next week.

...will require me to take a bunch of vaccinations...(at Cathleen Sebilius discretion)

So count me out of it.

or risk losing your health care. You will then be required to purchase your own Health Care product and to report it on your Income Tax return. Failure to comply can result in fines and up to and including imprisonment.

...down by that river.

liars, fools and assholes get representation as well, though it does appear that the Republican Party has exceeded its quota.

"encourage the promotion of suicide or assisted suicide" on the top of page 644 is preceded by "Nothing in this section shall" on the bottom of page 643. That little omission makes a big difference now, doesn't it Mr. King.

Right after he "misrepresents" the language, he's asked cleary about the INTENT of the section (Does it REALLY promote suicide?) and he clearly answers "YEAH". Then he pauses for a second and says.."well, that's what it says." And THEN, in a quieter voice he says.."..not necessarily what it means.."

This guy is a real sicko. This clip and the correct wording in the bill should be played every time he makes a tv/cable appearance.

And how are people going to afford this stuff. At this very moment Corporations are on another investing rampage in Mexico.

Why aren't they investing in job creation here?

You know, with these fools are going to need some surgery real soon they way they are rapidly pulling things out of their ass.

liars on the right, crybabies on the left.

Narcissists all.

I'm sure the tens of thousands dying from lack of healthcare each year do so gladly so everyone with healthcare can bitch about any compromise whatsoever.

Exactly. I fully agree.

....and trickle down will lift all boats, tax cuts for the super rich help the economy, Iraq has WMD's, SS is going broke, privatization will save money, taxes are bad for working people, corporate fascism is good for america, blah, blah,blah.........,

More lies from pathological liars who lie about everything.

still miss callingallwingnuts...one of the best blogs ever

im sick of this health insurance debate

the dems made a critical error from the getgo

shoulda called the bill "medicare for all"

shoulda explained how it would relieve biz, local, state and the fed from offering seperate health insurance

we are now stuck with a dumbed down, worthless piece of shite bill that after going to committee will provide us nothing

These clips now prove the theory that the biggest turds float to the top as fact.

How can we allow such ignorant, self serving shit balls assume positions of leadership in government? And, who exactly is this constituency that this scum represent? Other than their own bank accounts fueled by health care industry bribes and cult of the Aryan Jesus For Smelly Old Men & and Craggy Whores who can't be bothered to read these moronic, low life dingle berries could give a fuck less about YOU!

of Trent Franks' cleft palate surgery.

I wonder who paid for that surgery?

Ah, well - no matter; he's willing to stand up and make sure that nobody else has to suffer that kind of treatment.

Stay classy, Trent - and keep on using the campaign poster with the cuuute liddle baaaaybies on it!

After all, you've voted against every health care bill for poor children that has crossed your slimy desk!

And maybe - instead of "helping" your constituents so well - you should focus on your own goddam family.

How many uninsured in the disrict I represent, you ask?
Duh, I dunno. After all this time.

Mike Stark is teh awesome.
