Palin on SNL

*yawn* She showed in her Couric interview that she couldn't speak in an unscripted manner. But she showed last night that even with scripts, she can't talk either. This was a big blown opportunity to connect with a huge audience.

She called Lorne Michael, "Lauren". What a looser.

palin got the hots for a young Lauren Bacall

I think you mean "whata "loser" not "looser", although she is that, too!!

No video. This has been a constant problem since your face-lift.

As I click on the screen to the video and select "properties" by right-clicking, it shows "Adobe Flash Player 9. It can be downloaded on the net.

I have Windows Media Player 11, Quick-Time Player, etc. Could it be that you don't have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed?

Aaaah, Flash Player! The single most virulent purveyor of security breaches ever to plague teh netertoobz! It's the best thing since leprosy! YAY! Thanks, Adobe!

XD

It works for me...

Could it be that your browser doesn't support their embed software? I know that the latest version of Mozilla Firefox has a hit-or-miss liking to YouTubes.

I was advised by the site monitor to reinstall Firefox. It worked like magic. Don't forget to backup your bookmarks.

It's not C&L, it's NBC.
They yank every video for Terms of Use so you have to goto the SNL site and watch it/hit THEIR advertisements...

I hate to say it, but I miss the old site. The new one just doesn't feel like home. sigh

Maybe it'll grow on me, but it's harder to navigate. Sorry. I still read every day but this is only the third comment I've made b/c it's a bit of a pain. Love you!

.

What kind of fool allows herself to be made a fool on National T.V.?

A fool would do that.
A fool's fool.

If all the village idiots in all the world united to form their own village of village idiots...

I posted the SNL Palin Alaska rap at
http://democrazyarkansas.blogspot.com
and it is hilarious.

I still can't watch. No video clips for me. Since the VP debate I've had my fill of Caribou Barbie and if I never hear her voice again it will be too soon. Every time she opens her mouth something stupid comes out and I'm just finding myself fresh out of rage.

Here's a short video of Palin and Rev. Muthee you might find that is actually pretty funny (in a scary kind of way). It's over at Funnyordie.com:

http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/065d73b1dc

As stated above.

Far as I'm concerned, it was just lost advertising revenues.

I tracked both the intro and SNL Update down in another thread at C&L and just wound up feeling exasperated, confused and angry.

Palin is a disgusting and vile piece of work, no matter what angle she's held at under the light.

LMAO. She was the butt of the joke but didn't seem to know it.

"If you're a maverick put your hands up!
If you're a plumber pull your pants up!"

And the guy in the moose suit getting shot was hysterical.

Exactly! And "Todd" coming out in his snowmobile racing suit! If anyone wants to watch the SNL Alaski rap that hasn't seen it yet http://democrazymatters.blogspot.com

oops, old link - new link is http://democrazyarkansas.blogspot.com

This was a mistake - the info didn't leave my screen after I posted it and I thought that I hadn't ~

Sarah Palin on SNL: Here’s the Rehearsal Tape They WON’T Show!
http://satiricalpolitical.com/?p=4140

meh

All sizzle; no steak.

She always was McCain's gimmick, it's really pathetic how empty headed she is and these skits show more of that. I've said all along this is a weak ticket, it's actually weaker than I thought.

McLame: "STFU, or I'll sick my lipstick-wearing, toothless Pitbull™ on you!"

Anyone who would encourage the slaughter of wolves is mentally ill.

Most of the hunters are using Silver Bullets.

And all that light Coors is only good for two things, taking a long whiz and an equally long nap.

SNL was funny, Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo, Martin Short and Christopher Guest were all on it.

How many decades has that been?

And

I even liked the Charles Rocket era.

I cannot stand that woman. I cannot stand listening to her speak; I cannot stand watching her point and make her facial gestures.

Nevertheless, I forced myself to watch SNL (even though I'm not much of a fan of that show, either). I'd have to say that the opening scene wasn't that bad, but it was good because of Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, etc., not because of Palin. The rap set was, um, yawn.

Overall, it was much ado about nothing.

Good to see you 'round these parts!!

I saw both clips and thought both were major yawners. The rap did nothing for me at all...I thought it was stupid. And apparently, I missed something funny about Baldwin...'cause I did not get it. At all.

The AP is reporting, "One of President Bush's top economic advisers said Sunday that parts of the country probably already are experiencing a recession"

I guess that would be the part that needs to work for a living.

Oh yea, Palin is a god damned fool too.....

I much prefer

The God of which Voltaire spoke of:

God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.

I wonder if those parts are the "real America" or the "not so real" American parts?

I also saw on Fox briefly this morning that Bush has called McCain and Obama about some terrorist scare....seems as if they have information leading them to believe there will be terrorist activity right after the elections.

it more than likely will be home-grown.

When the description "home-grown" referred to something we illicitly smoked.

)O(

Home grown with this administration behind it so he can declare Martial Law if Obama is elected try to prevent him from taking office.

and I suppose it will require the use of that Army brigade training down in GA to handll the nat'l catastrophe after the
terr'ists get done scarin' us.

It will be probably be another "galvanizing Pearl Harbor-like" "terrorist" event that will require martial law, deployment of the Northern Command, lrtting loose the BlackwaterThug Army and the grand opening of all the concentration camps they've been building all over the country. They';; have to postone the inauguration, if Obama is the winner.

My guess is that, in PalinWorld, Real Amerikans™ are those who are just too breathtakingly stupid to know whether they're "in a recession," or just being porked over a barrel.

McQueeg says that he will "create thousands of jobs" Why don't they simply bring back all the thousands of good manufacturing jobs and factories and such they outsourced back to the United States. That was the major cause of reasons for mortgage forclosures. Workers had good-paying manufacturing jobs and could afford decent homes. They lost these jobs when they were outsourced out of the U.S. along with the factories. When the laid-off workers looked for jobs, all that were available were lower-paying service jobs and no longer could afford to pay these mortgages. So don't lie to people Mc Cain and make them believe they are now going to get decent-paying jobs under your regime. YOU ARE NOT NEVER HAVE BEEN AND NEVER WILL BE FOR THE "WORKING MAN" And screw you Joe-the-Lying-ass-Republican-"Plumber" You have your own skin . A wolf in sheep's clothing.

These people have been the root cause of the downfall of the USA. They have committed un-punished, punishable crimes.

It has become a factor of "AMERICAN POLITICAL IDOL". Pure "entertainment" and "characture" attacks of the rich and famous.

The country is a mess, because of them, and THEY will fix it, not knowing how many homes they own themselves.

I'm sick of hearing all the stupid, childlike, idiotic phrases, like, "JOE SIXPACK", and "JOE THE PLUMBER". The most powerfull nation in the world is seriously melting down, and all they do is come up with stupid freekin phrases???? Personal attacks??

Stupid people NEED stupid shit, to stay in focus! This crap keeps the stupid entertained, while it is seriously killing us.

Well, how about this for a six pack phrase:

Sarah Palin is dumber than a six-pack of dog turds.

Just a thought...

I can't believe that I stayed up to watch this fool make a total jacka$$ of herself on SNL. But then it only confirms again and again something we've all concluded: Sarach Palin is a total fraud and the american people are going to ship her back to the Tundra, lock, stock & barrel.

Frankly, I'm surprised that child protection agencies haven't taken up charges against her for carrying her baby like a rag doll to the state in Lancaster, Pa. That was disgusting. Using a handicapped child to get pity and attention is one thing (Meunchauser syndrome anyone?) but to jerk that kid around like it was some kind of stuffed animal is totally another. We've got another Britney Spears going on here, folks.

This country is over with Sarah the Secessionist and just want her to go away - far, far away. We're tired of being embarrassed by this total buffoon.

It's not just her little baby. I've seen the pregnant one as well as one or two others with her on the campaign trail. Don't these kids go to school?

They're home schooled

By the First "Dude"

Todd.

)O(

I thought that it was kind of funny that Palin described Stephen "Psycho for Jesus" Baldwin as her favorite Baldwin.

For the conspiracy theorists here, this is what I think happened. Lorne Michaels got a phone call from General Electric's head office, with this message: Even things up a bit for the Repugnikans, by presenting Palin as a human being (instead of the ignorant Dominionist that she is). And I suspect that the Repugnikan pollsters determined that this move would help them.

However, we should get at least one, and possibly two more Tina Fey appearances on SNL. And we might even get a Palin sendup in the first episode of _30 Rock_. Tina, bless her heart, dislikes Palin as much as I do.

This pathetically boring appearance did absolutely nothing to change her numbers; in fact, I believe the appearance will reduce her numbers.

In a case like Palin's, ANY FURTHER EXPOSURE IS BAD EXPOSURE. People are embarrassed by her at this point and really don't want to see her at any time, any where.

Palin has come to symbolize for all americans that hateful, bigoted part of our history (and Germany's) that we'd love to forget.

Palin has become our Holocaust Reminder.

You forget America has a surprisingly high number of people in the hateful, bigoted, willfully ignorant, Evangelical demographic. And they all breed like rabbits.

As we all predicted from day one, John McCain's will live to rue the day he made the capricious and reckless choice of Sarah Palin, THE most unqualified Veep EVER in our history to ascend to the presidency which is THE ONLY REASON WE HAVE A VEEP.

This decision is coming home to roost on McCain's bald head right now and will be one of the primary reasons he loses this campaign.

Given his cancer and short life expectancy, a Palin presidency would not only be possible .... but totally probable. This would destroy this country right now when we're struggling to find our path.

for showing up to take the beating she so richly deserved. I am with all who think she wasn't aware that she was being skewered, however.

Poehler shooting the moose = hilarious.

I bet she actually knew that she was being skewered; however, a week or so ago on "Real Time", Bill Maher said that she is without the gene that tells one to be embarassed!

that she was going to be skewered and that she was being skewered. The RNC was hoping that the SNL crew would overstep the bounds of "appropriate treatment" of a VP candidate, giving them a shiny new attack on the left.

With mcgramp's bald head?

For people familiar with the 4 levels of consciousnes or learning, Sarah Palin has become the poster gal for the "unconscious incompetent" level which, incidentally, is the lowest and most fundamental intellectual level upon which humans operate.

Unconscious Incompetent - She doesn't know that she doesn't know; in other words, she's clueless that she's being skewered and incapable of having that level of insight to realize it.

The next levels are as one rises up the intellectual evolutionary ladder:

2. Conscious Incompetent - We KNOW that we don't know. This is where true learning begins to kick in. John McCain once attained this level but chose to regress intentionally by permitting the RNC to run his campaign and run his integrity into the ground in the process. His level of respect will never be the same again since he knows better and chose the low road of regression.

3. Conscious Competent - This is where we recognize there are things we do not know and where the personal education process begins.

4. Unconscious Competent - This is the highest of intellectual evolution where we have learned and put into practice what we've learned (walking the talk) and do so without conscious thought.
** Barack Obama is at this level which is why he's so outstanding and such a role model for each of us.

This level is where we begin to "talk the talk" - where we begin to consciously strive to achieve competence in everything we do. We learn more to be able to articulate our positions with more clarity.
Obviously, John McCain never attained this level because of his mixed messages and being manipulated by greed and lust for power.

One would say that at this third level of learing, the human being learns and puts into action that which he's learned.

...but I object to the outdated analogy of evolution as a ladder. Evolution is actually a bush (the green kind)

I'm old enough to remember the first time SNL hit the air.At the time my buddy and I were sitting around blasting what we affectionately refered to as "wheel chair" Pot and drinking Beer.So this show comes on,we start watching this thing and then looked at each other as if to say WTF??I honestly thought for a minute or two that some underground group had taken over NBC,because this "thing" had never been seen before on TV.I mention this because seeing Palin on SNL drives home the sad truth of how far this show has fallen since its glorious heyday.Just put a bullet in its head Michaels and put it out of it's misery.
(I love Tina Fey however)

with the drug taking "take a PILL" pharmacist, the ganja chef and Michael Richards as Battle Boy.

THAT show was a total trip.

I don't want to see any more of Palin than I have to. I consider the Palin choice to be the.................................. "Great Comb-Over".

I guess from a ratings standpoint it made sense for SNL to have Palin on the show last night. But from a comedic standpoint there was no real point. I suppose it was slightly more effective to have Sarah sitting there while they openly made fun of her, but since that meant that I had to close my eyes whenever they had Palin on camera, I found it annoying.

What puzzles me is why Palin thought this was good for her? I guess she really is so completely, totally, absolutely stupid and so overwhelmingly self-centered and arrogant that she is incapable of saying no to any opportunity to appear on national television (as long as no one can ask her a question).

I wonder what SNL said to her. "Hey, Sarah, we want to make fun of what a total ass you are, would you like to be on the show this week so we can ridicule you? Don't worry, you won't have to answer any questions or speak any lines."

I suppose her appearance gave everyone a preview of what her role will be a McCain Administration -- window dressing.

Sitting there with her mouth closed and bopping to the music tells it all. That's how Sarah Palin moves through life - articulates nothing but just bops to life's bumps. She's no maverick; in fact, she's not even a worthwhile sidekick.

If SNL did a poll, I think this episode with Palin would rank among it's worst.

The following comment is rather interesting:

If SNL did a poll, I think this episode with Palin would rank among it's worst

Interesting since SNL got its highest viewer rating in 14 years. I'd hardly say the best rating in 14 years would be consistent with the show ranking "among it's worst". Every show should have it so bad!

No talking politics here, just ratings. SNL's BEST in 14 years!

I'm not surprised by this-- it's only human nature to gawk at train wreaks. That's why her "debate" appearance had the highest ratings of the four.

My guess is Palin said she wanted to appear and SNL couldn't really refuse, without seeming to be pro Dem and anti Republican.

Plus why turn down the chance to make fun of her to her face?

Palin's advisors probably told her it would be great to get the 'youth vote' on board. But young people are way more savvy than they think!

Nicolle, you are being snarky, right? Because last night, Sarah Palin was a good sport and actually had her best performance ever (without saying much at all, granted). It was the best SNL episode I've seen in nearly 3 years. Plus it had Marky Mark!

people who are preoccupied with validating a grandiose self-image apparently find criticism highly upsetting and lash out against the source of it

sound like anybody you know?

there's an interesting read over at "the moore report" at anchorage press that details a study which came to the conclusion above.

http://anchoragepress.com/articles/2008/10/19...

The best the republicans have to show is an awesome GWB impersonator, and now a "super" awesome Palin impersonator.

Republicans are always a comedians perfect "wet dream". Go figure. Their the saviours of it all.

Then whats so funny?

That sucked, painfully sucked! I can't imagine meeting this person and liking her. Doesn't she have any, for lack of a better word, shame?

she's too hopelessly ignorant and while we're at it... openly pathetic.

http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2008/10/07/1...

For example, the 90-year-old couple, Lester ("Smitty") and Mary Smith--who were raided at their Philo home last week (9.24.08) with law enforcement seizing their life savings and all their plants in the process--are qualified patients with doctors' approvals and did nothing wrong.

Smitty said, "I wasn't worried a bit. I knew it was legal. I planted six plants two years in a row and this year, I planted 17 for me and Mary. That's not too many is it? My wife is very ill, confined to a wheelchair or recliner. She likes the bud tea. She has severe arthritis. It makes it easier for her to get around. She walks easier; she can walk to the bathroom even by herself."

Smitty has health issues too. "I have heart problems, blood clots, stomach cramps, emphysema, bad hips. I've had a heart attack. I sometimes get strong chest pains and can't breathe right. I take nitroglycerine. That brings me back. My doctors want me to take more x-rays here locally but that would be a big expense. Usually, I go to the Veterans Hospital and they pay for it."

Mary Smith was forced to stay in the house by herself during the 5-hour raid while additional warrants for an adjoining parcel were telephoned in and delivered, allowing sheriff's deputies to enter all the residences.

The elderly Smiths were not arrested or charged with a crime, because there was none. Sheriff's deputies were apparently more interested in robbery than arrest (excuse my french). They seized the two things that mattered most to the ill couple--their medicine, all 17 plants, leaving nothing--and their life savings, $52,000 from Mary Smith's inheritance and $29,000 in cashed in CDs.

"As soon as the bail-out hit, I cashed in my CDs and put the money in a safe in my house. I did not sell pot to get it. But turns out my money was not safe. They stormed in here and turned our world upside down. I thought I was legal."

Know who wrote the law that made all this possible?

Joe "Change" Biden.

Are you saying that one person made this into law?

here I was thinking Biden was Joe the All-Powerful Lawgiver and you had to go and blow it for me. Thanks. ;-)

Who wants MORE DEREGULATION?
Who wants MORE PRIVITIZATION?
Who stole the trillions in BS bailouts?
Who created the FED out of deciet?
Who created WARS out of LIES?
Who created the MEGA-DEBTS, while making MEGA-PROFITS?

REPUBLICANS MAKE ME PUKE!
THEY ARE THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL, WORST SCUMFEEDERS, LYING, THIEVES OF THE PLANET EARTH!

"The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception."

The Alec Baldwin encounter was damaging for her. One, he's got a reputation for having a temper like McCain. Two, he criticized her saying she was a "horrible" person. Three, he sexually objectified her.

I'm surprised they let SNL get away with that. More stupidity from the McCain camp.

And then, did you see the way she was looked at Wahlberg? Careful there Marky Mark, Todd might start stalking you too. They're a funky bunch ya know!

Was already having sexual fantasies about putting antlers on Marky Mark.

Is it just me, or does Marky Mark sound like a dog trying to bark through a muzzle?

Okay, wolf.

)O(

Tell your mother I said , Hi

...

My mom has been dead since 1980.

Sometimes I think I'd miss her,

Other times I think if she were alive I'd just be ignoring her.

Now that's I'm getting toward middle-aged, it's my turn

Kind of funny in it's way.

She sexually objectifies herself with her slutty behavior and manner of dressing.

well... too bad... disappointed...

was hoping to not see that here... just because...

I despise Palin, but I liked her on SNL. What she did on SNL was actually much, much, much funnier that than the typical SNL skit of the last few years (outside of the Fey's brilliant turn as Palin recently-- basically I TIVO SNL, then I only watch the bits involving Fey.) But I agree with other comments that maybe she doesn't realize how much they were making fun of her. Let's face it, all of her lines were scripted, and I'm sure that the McCain campaign had to agree to everything, showing just how clueless they are-- they must have thought that this would make her look good.

I liked her appearance for several reasons--

It allowed SNL to point out that some men like her only because she is hot in whatever weird fetish way they have.

It allowed SNL to point out the absurdity of the "Joe the plumber" nonsense since Palin willingly boogied along to the the "Joe" crap (please, McCain totally did not have a clue about "Joe" in the debates, and Joe has been proven wrong on so many things, including being related to the Keating of The Keating 5 fame and not having a plumber's license), so when she boogied along to that, it showed her lack of understanding of the issues. The fact that McCain camp allowed herself to boogie along to the disproved "Joe the plumber" myth only proved to me how out of touch she is.

It proved that she is hot as far as a woman of her age can be hot. But let's also agree that she is clueless. Most of the SNL stuff was making fun of her. But she and the McCain people are treating this as a triumph. How clueless can they be?

And kudos to the Stephanie Miller show. The term "Caribou Barbie" originated there. After many weeks it has become part of the national discourse.

So for a brief synopsis, I liked Palin on SNL. But only because she was willing to play along, and also because it showed how clueless she was to the fact that they were making fun of her.

Most major political figures, (in fact most major non-comedic figures) often look uncomfortable in their forced performances on SNL, a dichotomy between the gravitas of their positions contrasted with the mostly low-brow goofiness of SNL. The fact that Palin came off looking like a cast member doesn't make her look any more ready to be VP than before, in fact it made her look less, in my opinion.

Perhaps I'm too sensitive, but I didn't watch Palin on SNL and I didn't watch McCain's recent appearance on Letterman.

Both candidates have done so much to divide our country and promote violence that I just couldn't bring myself to support them -- even though I regularly watch both shows and usually enjoy them immensely.

Believe me, I LOVE to laugh, but I guess I'm just to the point where I can't waste my precious time encouraging the cancers the two of them have become.

On another note, I don't know how many of you watched the Frontline show on McCain and Obama. It was incredibly fair and truly balanced. The thing that made me so sad was to see the de-evolution of Sen. McCain. He's sunk so low it's the stuff of Greek tragedy.

I didn't watch SNL last night either. Instead, I listened to some fine music and enjoyed my evening.

The thing that made me so sad was to see the de-evolution of Sen. McCain. He's sunk so low it's the stuff of Greek tragedy.

Sad? Why?

I used to think McCain was a man of integrity, someone I might even vote for. But since the campaign started and forced me to look into his background I've come to realize that all of it was a carefully crafted facade. And over this campaign, the mask has been progressively decaying and falling off his face, revealing the pus-dripping cancer within.

He should not have any sympathy. The masks have fallen away, and shown us the only McCain that was ever there to begin with.

L O S E R ... doesn't matter what she's on, or who she talks to, or what venue... she's a frickin' loser!

Last night before C&L even started discussing Palin being on SNL, I eluded to the fact, it would be a test to Lorne Michaels allegance to his people, like Fey & Alec Baldwin, both being big Democrat supporters.
Also, Michaels produces Third Rock which has both actors on it.
Well, we saw what the 3 of them did and the input all had. I had a feeling Baldwin would be on and I'm sure a lot of what he said was his own material.
The rap was genius and she didn't even understand the laugh was on her.
I was hoping for a Joe the Plumber skit involving Palin and a surprise shot of some plumbers cleavage for her viewing pleasure.
Did anyone notice the stronger than usual sexual inuendo with "Pussy and Dick"?
Were SNL professional in the way they did the show? You Betcha!

Is there a male equivalent of Sarah Palin?

You

I think he winked at me.

J. Danforth Quayle.

SNL

"But she showed last night that even with scripts, she can't talk either. This was a big blown opportunity to connect with a huge audience."

Not so. She did just fine on SNL....that kind of stuff is within the scope of her abilities.....

Nicole, if you call ALL things done by someone "TERRIBLE", and if people can see for themselves that it's not really true, then your future impact has been diminished....

it's the Crying Wolf thing.....

none of this really matters, of course, but it's food for thought...if you're hungry

I saw the SNL bit and was unhappy that she didn't really screw up......but I, a (mostly) grownup, actually cried when I saw it because to me, it's a real shame that Sarah got this far and that there are people in our country who see people like Sarah and MIchelle Bachmann as Leaders.

That's the really sad part.

But she did just fine...she CAN talk, she CAN read lines..... but she's still a really bad person...a horrible pick for McCain and I hope, a factor in his defeat.

By the way.....Nice how Bachmann's opponent has gotten so much cash in the last few days...pretty amazing....I gave a bunch, and can't even remember the guy's name....I think of him as "Not Michelle Bachmann".....

whatever....

Honestly, I thought she was pathetic. Not because she's Palin...but I thought that her delivery was stilted and lame. Part of being effective at this is the ability to stand aside from yourself and wink at the audience that you just don't take yourself that seriously. I didn't get that from her at all.

Stiff as a board with little comedic timing was my take.

I agree with you, Nicole...it was slow, boring and awful. Both her and the skits.

regarding the opening clip of SNL.......(not the dancing moose one) she wasn't on long enough to be pathetic..... she had fewer lines than they let auditioning actors say at auditions...

there's a lot of projection going on here... wanting her to have been bad doesn't make it so.....

hoping that she would screw up also doesn't make it so...

Mixing nonsensical criticism with REAL fact-based criticism dilutes the message....

now back to the real issues, I hope....

donate more to dems if you all can..... we can't afford to have McCain/Palin anywhere near anything we hold dear....

You know SNL isn't actually live, right? Even if she did mess up, we wouldn't know it. I think this SNL appearance was way over hyped and amounts to nothing gained, nothing lost.

I thought the skits were funny but Sarah Palin actually didn't deliver a single funny line herself. Mark Walberg did better with his skit. Say hello to your mother for me. They must have focused entirely on those two skits plus McGruber though because the rest of the show was terrible. Fart Face...seriously.

I was sick last night and couldn't sleep so I watched SNL, for the most part, it sucked.

Hope your feeling better.

If you're going to play yourself on a TV show, you have to be willing to make fun of yourself. (See Mark Wahlberg on the same show) But Sarah Palin didn't do that. She came across as a smug prima donna. She added nothing to the Weekend Update segment and actually ruined a perfectly good Tina Fey sketch with her witless cameo. Even Madonna -- possibly the most vain women on the planet -- pokes fun at herself when she does SNL, but Sarahcuda couldn't do that.

How embarrassing.

I guess she thought that showing up meant she was being "hip."

She got sooooo played.

Prior to SNL, I thought Palin could have another career in one of the elite news channel (ABC, Fox, CCN)

After the SNL, I am convinced that Palin should probably apply for the job in the GOD channel or Pat Robertson 700 channel.

but she does read a mean teleprompter so she still has potential for Fox. She would never be able to do a live show, though, with no talking points or any kind of interviewing. She truly is a dim bulb.

As I watch McCain and Palin, I can't help but wonder if this whole campaign season is just a highly theatrical scam, and that McCain's job is to throw the election: put up a symbolic fight, ease into reitrement, letting the more polished of the two corporatist candidates have the helm for 4-8 years. The advance of corporatist fascism then marches on, but more quietly and with a better repertoire of rhetoric. We all feel better about it because the batshit crazies didn't win, and then we all get on with the continuing business of being buggered by corporate fascists. Everybody "wins".

Even if McCain is actually trying, everything else you said will happen.

Bingo Paul!

Daz exactly right. I think McCain even gets it at this point. He must have really pissed somebody off to have been stuck with this role. The guy must have to keep himself so medicated to deal. Either that or he already was that far gone.

YouTube killed the link. Another argument for hosting the videos on your own server.

I thought she did a decent job seeing as she probably only got to rehearse during the first show Saturday. Alec Baldwin cracked me up because he has been known to say some strong things against the GOP - he got in hot water saying something nasty about Chaney on Letterman one time. He kept calling Palin "Tina".... HA!

They let Palin say "Live from New York..." and the end tag of Weekend Update.

I thought the Rap was so funny especially when Todd came on and the damn guy in the Moose suit.

Personally I thought Mike Huckabee was much better of the canidates to visit as he could actually deliver a funny line or two.

Tina Fey is funnier as Sarah Palin than Sarah Palin is at being Sarah Palin.

Tina Fey is funny as Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin is scary as Sarah Palin. That's the difference.

While I admit it is not as funny as her SNL skit, it is very revealing to watch the video of Sarah Palin's welcoming address to the Alaskan Independence Party 2008 convention. Yes, she did it earlier this year.

And this is the woman who calls Senator Obama un-American and suggests a connection with terrorists?

Finally, the media is starting to catch up.

Feel free to use the video at the end of the piece to share with others.

"Sarah Palin & The Secessionists"
http://scootmandubious.blogspot.com/2008/10/s...

I thought she seemed a little nervous, but she did ok---although it was't nearly as funny as the Tina Fey impressions.

http://christiansvoteobama.org

It was just bizarre. Exactly what was accomplished?

A point or two uptick in the Obama/Biden ticket.

Video not available but who cares, we need to be talking about working on ENERGY INDEPENDENCE. Obama and McCain both say that is their top priority, however they say it will take 10 years (conveniently after they would be out of office).

There are technologies available today to give us Clean, Renewable ENERGY in a year even (especially if we took just a fraction of what is being spent in Iraq).

I am not talking about BS stuff like bio, nuclear, coal or more oil, I am talking about wind, solar, tidal, geothermal and electric/magnetic (also hydrogen using Tesla methods not conventional methods). The best thing about these is that they are abundant, completely clean, and renewable.

Whoever gets elected needs to be reminded that this is the top priority and not allowed to slack off on this. Look up Tesla and geothermal energy and check out some videos on it, also zeitgeist:addendum for more info.

One of the reasons, among dozens, that Obama is ahead thus far is that he has elevated his game, stayed out of the mud, and remained cool under fire. Many opportunities presented themselves to him to knock Ms. Palin down, yet he did not and neither need I or others here that have posted, frankly, shocking thoughts about her. Yes she is out of her league but she was a damn good sport. It serves no purpose to make fun of her inflection or her homey charm or suggest she dresses too sexy. Obama, though playing hard politics, remains above the barking and braying fray and we would do well to do the same.

Hey... I really want to see this d***a** Palin make a fool of herself... Can somebody who has the clip post it on C&L or share the address of the webpage that has it???
Thanks.

I don't like what this woman stands for: her selfishness, self-absorption, lack of intellect or intellectual curiosity, and her blithe amorality, but on the show, she was quite likable. Had I not seen her before, I would have been quite taken with her.

We've all got the hate blinders on here - we see her for the evil crone she really IS, but independents and/or people who don't bother reading or watch television with critical thinking skills are going to like her.

Again, I say we underestimate these evil fucks at our own peril.

Going on SNL was just another GOP strategy to tick off. Plan F- neutralise the liberal satirists. It was the only election news on Australian media all day until the Powell endorsement. The same on the BBC World Service radio. Some US journalist called Wolf? was sprouting the Republican line and the BBC guy never challenged him. You'd think McCain was up in the polls and Palin was another Kissinger. We get the news from the USA in a Republican form. (Thanks to Rupert.)I used to think that most Americans were right wing loud mouth, evangelical rednecks, until I visited and met mostly kind and generous people.(Mind you, I still get 'god bless you' stamped all over my ebay packages.)
