Lynn Zinser of the Times reports that Palin was greeted with "resounding (almost defeaning) boos." FOX News, on the other hand, reports that the reaction "mixed." Who's right? Jed put together this clip comparing the real footage with the footage FOX uses to make its case. See for yourself.

The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said at an earlier fundraiser that she would stop some of the booing from the rowdy Philadelphia fans by putting her seven year old daughter, Piper in a Flyers jersey. She said, "How dare they boo Piper!"

By the way, Rangers won 4-3 and improved their record to 4-0, making this their best start in 25 years. Only 78 wins away from a perfect season.

It was cheers and boos. I have friends who went to the game. Anyone claiming otherwise is just lying. To say that all hockey fans are Democrats (or "Republicans against Sarah Palin") is ridiculous. It was 50/50.
If you are a Rethuglican VP candidate and you get roughly half and half boos and cheers in a crowd that is largely white blue collar males I don't think it really matters much if it was 60/40 one way or the other. It can't be good for the Palin/McCain ticket either way.

I attended the game with friends and family, trust me it was more of a 75/25 on boos... People were very angry she was there.
The people in the box next to us kept yelling that she was a jinx to the Flyers.
I have plenty of photos showing many people giving her wonderful gestures.
The Stadium hated her.

What's even more amazing is that she didn't drag that little baby out on the ice. Speaking of that baby, does she keep him "medicated" or what? In my whole life I have never seen such a lethargic little boy. Bless his little heart, even though he is a Down's Syndrome baby he should at least have more movement and not just lean up against whomever's holding him. I've seen a lot of little babies with Down's and they are usually really active little guys. Just wonderin'.

I hear the Obama cheers! The Republicans are having a "Rally" at the Rod and Gun Club sponsored by the NRA about 2 miles from my house today. The local McCain team stopped by to help setup the stage. This is the same Rod and Gun Club that still has pigeon shoots several times/year. One of the only clubs that still does this in the United States.

The news TV people have a live feed of the music playing, they can mix it to any level they like to mask out the crowd noise.

watching this on comcast, the local carrier for flyers games in the philly region, the music and white noise was even louder almost to the point of not hearing anything other than the music.
this was a chickenshit move by the flyers organization and as i stated in an email to them, over the past 8 years this is one of very very few appearances by a republican leader or candidate that was not in a prescreened or scripted setting. actually i can not think of only one or two other such appearance and both were at nascar events where the republican candidate or leader was a good distance from the actual crowd. what a sham and a shame that the flyers organization and anyone else involved with this have denied americans the chance to let the world see what 80+ percent of americans truely think of republican leadership and governence.
