Well if it's been another week, then you can bet John McCain has found more new positions than Corporal Matt Sanchez, via pander, flip-flop or other nefarious means. We at The Real McCain keep track, so you don't have to:
* One of the few semi-progressive positions McCain has taken, so we should have all known it would only be a matter of time before he pandered to the indoctrinated and flip-flopped on this issue.
Meanwhile, Mr. McCain, who led Republican lawmakers in championing immigration legislation last year, has appeared to be backing away from that role, several Congressional aides said.
* It appears John McCain is much like President Bush when it comes to soldiers' deaths in the war he and his pals like the ENTIRE KAGAN FAMILY (also known as "The Family Surge") are such cheerleaders for. In fact, just to avoid a funeral of a fallen soldier in Iraq, did McCain really go to all the trouble of changing his schedule in New Hampshire? This would be the ultimate hypocrisy, even for McCain.
* McCain, taking his place alongside such proud moments as the attacks on Copernicus (still going on on Texas, apparently), Scopes and others crazy enough to believe in science, isn't sure whether condoms can help prevent the spread of H.I.V. But one must read his answers to routine questions to truly understand the essence of McCain:
Q: “So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?”
Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “You’ve stumped me.”
Q: “I mean, I think you’d probably agree it probably does help stop it?”
Mr. McCain: (Laughs) “Are we on the Straight Talk express? I’m not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I’m sure I’ve taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception – I’m sure I’m opposed to government spending on it, I’m sure I support the president’s policies on it.”
Yes, in two decades in the Senate, I'm sure John McCain has never had to take a position on this issue, so one could understand how he dosn't know where he stands on something so basic. Does this man know who he is anymore?
