I think the first version of "Pressure Drop" I ever heard was an attempt at a note by note cover by Robert Palmer. That led me directly to the real thing by Toots & the Maytals, who had cut it in 1968. I loved the song and I was thrilled when The Clash did it as a b-side in 1977. On my radio show it was always the A-side. Soon after, a band in San Francisco, The Offs, asked me if I wanted to release their punked-up ska version of the song on my indie label, 415 Records. I did-- and I did. The Offs' version is only available on vinyl but here's the original:
