Since the mini-series "John Adams" is premiering tonight on HBO and there are many parallels that can be drawn about the personal insecurities of that particular Founding Father and what is happening today, I thought what screenwriter Kirk Ellis about the birthpains of this country is interesting.
It is certainly more interesting than what I suspect will be the number 1 topic on the news shows this morning...will they be talking about how the Bush Administration has worked tirelessly to remove any oversight? The lack of progress in Iraq, the invasion and occupation five years old this week? The embezzlement of $1 million dollars from the NRCC? How Don Siegelman was railroaded by a Republican cabal? How the Republicans value protecting corporations over the citizens in pushing for telecom immunity? Nahhhhh.... You know none of that is even going to be mentioned, not when we can talk about how Hillary Clinton and her surrogates are trying to steal delegates and Barack Obama is a secret Muslim in thrall with a controversial minister.
ABC's "This Week" - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.; Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.
CBS' "Face the Nation" - Gov. Deval Patrick, D-Mass.; Leon Panetta, former chief of staff to President Clinton.
NBC's "Meet the Press" - Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y.; former Democratic presidential candidate Bill Bradley.
CNN's "Late Edition" - Paulson; Douglas Holtz-Eakin, adviser for John McCain's presidential campaign, and Gene Sperling, adviser for Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign; Sens. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.; L. Paul Bremer, former head of the transitional government in Iraq.
"Fox News Sunday" - Paulson; Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Chris Dodd, D-Conn.
"The Chris Matthews Show" -Panel: Ron Allen, Andrea Mitchell, Patrick Healy, Gloria Borger. Topics: Will racial divisions imperil the Democrats' chance to win this fall? What compels some politicians to risk their careers for sex? Meter Questions: If Hillary is the nominee, would African-Americans vote for her in November? If Obama is the nominee, will middle-class whites vote for him?
What's catching your eye this morning?
