If we’re growing, we’re always going to be out of our comfort zone. John Maxwell
Moon is at home in the sign of Cancer, and in her natural element of water. As we settle with our emotions like the Moon, we become comfortable in our own setting, and trust that we are safe. With a Moon/Sun opposition, tension is likely when we are fearful of stepping out from our comfort zone. If we can reach others by simply bending, we allow growth and inner shine. If we’re unable to make an adjustment, we can experience emotional turbulence, and outer resistance.
The Full Moon is about releasing all that we’ve been internally grasping for. We release, we share with the world, and we show off our brilliance. After our few moments of fame, we release again, to detach, and to let it all go. With the Full Moon in Cancer, we need to release, to experience what we’re feeling, in the present. We can simply release and let go, to love. We can also let go of our insecurities, our walls, and our emotional history, to allow ourselves to be loved.
The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in. Morrie Schwartz
Cancer is the sign of the crab, with a pair of very strong claws to grasp and hold on to. So letting go and releasing may be ‘easier said, than done’ for many of us during this time. What could be tougher, is the fact that Cancer has the memory of an elephant. Whatever was said or done, they feel and experience it deeply – all the way to their center. From pain sufferings, to quiet pleasures… because they felt it, they will never forget it. It’s become a part of their soul.
Cancer also has a very strong shell. This gives them a very tough exterior, which shields them from outside sources. This hard crust protects their most tender qualities; compassion, intuition, understanding, and gentle emotions. Cancer also rules softs spots of the body, such as our feelings, the womb, the nurturing parent, body fluids, the stomach, breasts, and the solar plexus. We can experience extra sensitivity in these areas, with emotional eating, cravings for soft gooey foods, swelling, heavy bloating, nausea, with troubled bellies. We want to make sure that we’re taking care of ourselves and our needs first. And drink more water, to replenish psychic energies, flush out toxins, and ease discomforts in the body.
Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose. Kevin Arnold
With the Cancer Full Moon, we are releasing and experiencing our emotions, and our past. We can do it gently, to allow emotional healing for new growth. But when emotions contain pain, resentments, and anger – release is not so easy. What may have happened many, many years ago – can be felt and experienced – as if it happened only yesterday. And for many of these individuals, pain and suffering is their comfort zone. It keeps them safe, so they never have to be vulnerable and trust again. During highly emotional days like today, these particular soft hearts will often let go by exhausting moodiness, tears, sadness, arguments, anger, disappointments, suspicions of being victimized, and escaping their own unpleasantries with solitude.
Love me when I least deserve it, because that’s when I really need it. Swedish Proverb
Try to take nothing too personally under these very delicate skies. Along with the Full Moon, Venus retrograde (the Love Goddess) will square Mars in Libra (relationships, partnerships). Getting what we want may lead to amusing awkwardness, or conflict if forced. Too, Cancer’s powerful emotions with a gentle approach can often be mistaken as less than interested, as well as shy or coy. Use good manners with other’s boundaries, as well as caution. And if you’re unable to love or emotionally reach the one you’re with, let doubts pass. Just bathe and replenish yourself, with your own love.
Be gentle, be kind, and be mindful.
