RNC Spokesman Sean Spicer: Chris Christie's Candor 'Refreshing,' Unlike Dems
"Governor Christie took responsibility and showed what a leader does, and I think that's refreshing."
Republican National Committee Spokesman Sean Spicer appeared on MSNBC on Friday where he told anchor Chris Jansing that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's forthright response to the scandal involving lane closures on the George Washington Bridge "refreshing." He added that, given how Democrats have responded to "scandal after scandal," Christie's candor stands in positive contrast.
"What Americans, I think, have been yearning for from politicians is someone standing up and saying, 'Something went wrong on my watch, I'm going to acknowledge it was wrong, it was unacceptable, I'm going to show you what a leader does," Spicer insisted.
"Time after time, I'm proud to say that it's the Republicans, especially our governors, that are doing these kind of things," he continued.
"Scandal after scandal, the press corps seems to buy into, 'Okay, well they just said it was nothing and let's move on," Spicer added. "Governor Christie took responsibility and showed what a leader does, and I think that's refreshing."
Excuse me now, I think I need to go have a good scream.
