Chris Christie's Sandy 'Czar' Says Politics Played No Role In Recovery Efforts

TRENTON — The man appointed by Gov. Chris Christie to head New Jersey’s Hurricane Sandy relief efforts today said that it’s “unfathomable” that disaster aid programs could be used for political gain.

“Politics has played absolutely no role in disaster recovery,” said Marc Ferzan, the executive director of the Governor’s Office of Recovery and Rebuilding. “There is nothing that is more highly regulated than federal recovery disaster grants programs.”

“We’re very confident with the integrity of the programs,” he said during a phone-in press conference with reporters this afternoon.
