One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others

Fox host Greta Van Susteren continued doing damage control for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on ABC's This Week.

Following yet another one of these "a pox on both of your houses" segments on ABC's this week -- where their correspondent Terry Moran conflated the latest hit piece by the right against Hillary Clinton, with Scott Walker being accused of breaking campaign finance law, Chris Christie's Bridgegate troubles, and Rick Perry comparing homosexuality to alcoholism -- Fox host Greta Van Susteren continued doing damage control for her pal Scott Walker.

As Media Matters reported, the network has been their best to make light of the recent details that have been released about the investigation into whether he broke campaign finance laws by colluding with outside groups like Karl Rove's during the recall election in Wisconsin.

ABC seems to be doing all they can to compete in the wingnut department with Faux "news" by having the likes of Van Susteren and her ilk on there in the first place and this Sunday, she was happy to follow their lead and pretend that Hillary Clinton doing her job as an attorney defending someone in a rape case forty years ago is just the same as Walker's campaign finance problems, because there was "lousy reporting" in both incidences.

Sorry Greta, but the only "lousy" or sloppy reporting has been by people like yourself and your network who have completely ignored that the judge who tried to get Walker's case thrown out that he's been citing that as proof of his innocence, has a few conflicts of interest, to put it mildly.

Partial transcript via ABC:

KARL: And now back with the roundtable. Greta, you were one of those that interviewed Hillary Clinton as part of this rollout. How has it gone?

VAN SUSTEREN: Well, you know, first of all this whole thing about this rape victim. I think one of the lousiest reporting I've seen in a long time both sides of the political spectrum -- Scott Walker in Wisconsin, Republican, and Hillary Clinton, Democrat. Because what she wrote in this affidavit was not her feelings about the victim, but she was seeking to get a court appointed psychiatrist and she said she was told this, totally routine.

Likewise, Scott Walker, the headlines says that he's accused of a crime by a prosecutor. That's what prosecutors do, they accuse you of a crime. And if the prosecutor really thought he committed a crime he would have charged him with a crime.

So you've got lazy reporters who don't look at the court file for Hillary Clinton and you've got lazy reporters who don't understand the system in Wisconsin.

KARL: But Terry, hearing that tape and hearing Hillary Clinton laughing about how the guy was -- she knew the guy was guilty, basically, or she believed he was guilty.

[...]

VAN SUSTEREN: She also wasn't laughing at -- at the victim. I mean this is important. They actually...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No, she was.

VAN SUSTEREN: (INAUDIBLE) -- she was laughing at this polygraph...

ELLISON: At the polygraph.

VAN SUSTEREN: -- which is very different.

ELLISON: The polygraph.

VAN SUSTEREN: And that's why...

ELLISON: Absolutely.

VAN SUSTEREN: -- this reporting was so sloppy about her and very sloppy about Scott Walker, too.
