While no longer active, LCD Soundsystem was instrumental in keeping New York's underground scene alive. After the '90s ended, there was a bit of a downturn for underground recorded music, considering that digital audio workstations weren't quite user-friendly enough yet and studio time was expensive. Luckily, a few groups, including this one, persevered in spite of this and inspired a whole new wave of home-grown recorded music.
