Scott Walker's Freudian Slip

Walker dreams of finalizing the goal of Corporate America

In part of his speech to the Teapublicans in Iowa this past weekend, Scott Walker extolled the virtues of working hard and remaining poor.

Praising hard work is an odd talking point for a career politician. But it does exemplify the fact that he doesn't believe that the minimum wage serves much purpose. And you can just stop expecting him to even discuss a living wage.

But Walker did have a small Freudian slip in this part of his spiel. Walker said:

"I think that looking ahead as Republicans, we need to make the case that we are going to promote policies that promote and support and defend hard work in this company - er, in this country once again."

While I don't think anyone would criticize hard work - after all, all labor has value - but I don't think any child grows up with the dream of becoming a corporate serf.

Sadly, that is exactly the plan that Walker and others that promote plantation economics have in mind for us and our children and grandchildren.
