Hannity Makes Romney Vs. Holyfield Match About Himself

There's a charity event between Mitt Romney and Evander Holyfield coming up, but Hannity couldn't stop talking about himself long enough to tell his audience much about it.

Mitt Romney and Evander Holyfield visited the Hannity show to talk about an upcoming boxing match – yes, boxing match – between them to benefit charity.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the Romney-Holyfield match is the marquee event in a night of other bouts between real prize fighters.

But host Sean Hannity was so busy talking about himself, we never got to hear much about the event or even the charity it benefits.

Hannity’s first question was to Holyfield: “You know I trained in martial arts and I wouldn’t want to get in a ring with you unless I could use all – unless I could use every dirty technique that I’m learning.”

Holyfield said he’s not going to hit Romney, “but it’s going to be something good, though.”

Romney said he’s been training “in a manner of speaking.” He said he was “in a boxing ring the other day with a trainer and he showed me where I’m supposed to hold my hands.”

So Hannity broke in to offer advice: “You’ve got to keep your hands up.”

“If he starts throwing anything, I’m going down fast,” Romney said, laughing.

“I actually trained with Chuck Liddell,” Hannity brought up, apropos of nothing related to Romney or Holyfield. But there just happened to be some video handy. You may recall it from last month.

“He taught me his big overhand and I’m doing my martial arts here with him. That’s his particular punch,” Hannity explained. “So I’d get in a ring with you for charity but I’ve got to use all my dirty fighting techniques ‘cause I learned street martial arts.”

Even as Holyfield began to talk, Hannity interrupted. “It’s a lot of eye-poking… I’m gonna break your jaw, I’m gonna pull you in, choke you out.”

Finally, more than halfway in, Romney got a chance to explain the charity. Briefly.

Hannity closed the segment by saying, “I could name a few people I’d want to get with in the ring. We’ll save that for another show.”

I’m probably one of them, once he gets wind of this post. Not that I'm making this post about me or anything.

Watch the ego strutting above, from last night’s Hannity.
