George Zimmerman Paints Confederate Flag To Prove He Loves America
Unfortunately for the rest of us, George Zimmerman isn't disappearing from the national spotlight any time soon.
If you weren't already sick enough of George Zimmerman ever receiving an ounce of coverage in the national press, well, here you go: A “Muslim-free” gun shop in Florida is raffling a Confederate flag painted by George Zimmerman:
If you had “Muslim-free,” “George Zimmerman,” “Confederate flag” and “Florida” on your Racist Bingo cards, congratulations. You’ve won. Please step up to the table to claim your prize, which definitely isn’t this Confederate flag painted by George Zimmerman:
Florida Gun Supply announced yesterday that they are selling signed prints of the painting for 50 bucks a pop. One lucky buyer will receive the original, produced by the the man whose name has become synonymous with killing unarmed black teenagers. One portion of the proceeds from the raffle will go to Zimmerman, and another will go to Andy Hallinan, who owns Florida Gun Supply, in order to pay for Hallinan’s defense in a federal discrimination lawsuit, filed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, over the store’s declaration of itself as a “Muslim-free zone” following the recent shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Given how gun stores, along with all other places of public accommodation, aren’t allowed to discriminate on the basis of religion — even if they declare themselves to be “private clubs” — their legal defense will be futile. But it will definitely be well funded. [...]
And in case you’re wondering whether Zimmerman bothered to try making the claim that his painting isn’t about racism, but is instead about heritage, don’t worry. It’s definitely a thousand percent about racism. As he told Hallinan, quoted by Gawker:
“The caption, ‘the 2nd protects the first’ [sic] is a double entendre,” Zimmerman told the gun seller. “The first flag I painted on this canvas was an American Flag, but decided to repaint over it with the Confederate Flag when I heard Andy was getting sued by CAIR. The 2nd flag I painted was the Battle Flag – which we need in America in order to protect the first.”
In other words, when Zimmerman paints, “The 2nd Protects the 1st,” he means both that the Second Amendment is essential for protecting the First Amendment, but also that the second flag — the Confederate flag — is essential for protecting the first, American flag. From the Ay-rabs.
