Walker: No Abortions Even To Protect The Life Of The Mother

Walker overcompensates for his previous flip-flops on abortion

One of the criticisms that Scott Walker has been getting from right wing voters is that he is not consistently conservative enough for their tastes, especially when it comes to social issues like marriage equality or abortion.

In Thursday night's GOP debate and three ring circus, Walker overcompensated for the insecurity the voters have in him. Via Think Progress:

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a front-runner in Thursday night’s GOP debate, said he has “always been pro-life” and would not allow for exceptions to an abortion ban for women whose lives are at risk.

“Well I’m pro-life,” the Republican candidate said. “I’ve always been pro-life. I’ve got a position that’s consistent with many Americans out there in that I believe that that is an unborn child that’s in need of protection out there. And I’ve said many times that that unborn child can be protected and there are many alternatives that would protect the life of the mother.”

Moderator Megyn Kelly had asked Walker: “would you really let a mother die rather than have an abortion?” She added that 83 percent of voters are in favor of a “life exception” and questioned whether he is too out of the mainstream on this issue to win the general election.

Walker did not expand on what the “many alternatives” are that would protect pregnant women seeking an abortion because of medical reasons.

Y'know, come to think of it, Walker has been really overcompensating a lot, whether it is abortion, gay marriage, taking on unions or his saber rattling at Iran. Makes one wonder if he has some underlying insecurity that he is trying to cover up.
