The husband of Fox News contributor Mary Katharine Ham has been killed in a tragic bicycle accident at age 34, while Ham is pregnant with their second child.
From Fox News:
A White House staffer was killed Saturday when the bicycle he was riding collided with a vehicle during a charity ride, the Washington Post reported.
Jacob Thomas Brewer, 34, died about 3:40 p.m. when he lost control of his bike at a sharp curve. It crossed a double yellow line and hit an oncoming vehicle, cops told the Post.
Brewer was a senior policy adviser in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, part of the Office of Science and Technology policy.
...Brewer was married to Fox News contributor Mary Katharine Ham. They have a daughter, Georgia, and Ham is pregnant with a second child.
As my former colleague, Marie Therese, once posted, some things transcend politics. "No matter what one thinks of a person's politics, it is important to remember the humanity that binds us all," she said in reference to a crisis in another Fox News personality's life. The same definitely holds true in this case. But for what it's worth, Ham has integrity, she argues her points respectfully and is one of the few Fox conservatives I have come to like over the years.
I know I speak for many in our NewsHounds' community when I say that my thoughts are with Ms. Ham and her family at this time.
(Our deepest sympathies from everyone here at C&L as well.)
Karoli's note: Like Ellen, I have known Ham to be one of the few Fox contributors who has managed to remain civil and respectful while still being a conservative. I've slammed her politics, but I'm deeply sad for her loss. There is a memorial fund set up for their children here.
