C&L’s Late Nite Music Club With Thin Lizzy
She's got the power. she's got the tower.
In 1973 Bob Seger was on his 2nd major label record deal and was hungry for airplay. His solution? Write a song about Rosalie Trombley the music director at Detroit’s CKLW and watch it get added to their playlist. At the time it was one of the most influential radio stations in the country. Rosalie took one listen to it and knew what Bob was up to. The song did not get added and not many people heard the record because of it.
A group of people that did hear it though were Irish rockers Thin Lizzy. Their first version of the song appeared on their ’75 album Fighting. In 1978 the song was included on their Live and Dangerous album. That version garnered them a hit single in the UK the same year.
