Sanders: I Want Trump To Run So I Can Win -- Which I Will By A Lot
Bernie Sanders gives a hilarious answer to a question about why an independent voter should vote for him over Trump.
Tonight's Democratic Town Hall, held in Derry, New Hampshire, has already offered us a great opportunity to hear both candidates speak on their qualifications and answer questions from the audience on an individual basis. Anderson Cooper is moderating and during one particularly entertaining back and forth, asked Bernie Sanders the following question:
Why should an independent voter deciding between you and Donald Trump vote for you?"
Bernie Sanders' response covered all the bases, but it's the last few sentences that really make this clip a gem. Here are some of the highlights:
"Examine Trump's record carefully and it is not only his bigoted remarks...even above and beyond those outrageous bigoted statements, take a look at what he stands for economically...this country has million of people struggling economically and I believe we should raise minimum wage to $15.00 an hour over the next couple of years...Trump says, no, $7.25, we should not raise the minimum wage....Trump in a GOP debate said wages are too high in America. That is what he said....
We know Trump has no desire to help the working class, but solid opening from Bernie.
And here is something that blows me away...Trump is a well known scientist...(chuckle from the audience) and he has concluded after years of studying the issue that climate change is a hoax brought to us by the Chinese. That shocked me, Anderson, because I thought he would have thought it was a hoax bought to us by the Mexicans or the Muslims...
Wait, Trump isn't a scientist?
if you examine his agenda, it is not an agenda a for working Americans. He wants to give hundreds of millions of tax breaks to the top 2/10 of 1%.
Yup, Trump looks out for his buddies at the top. Good job hammering that home, Bernie. Now let's finish it off...
I would love the opportunity. frankly, I am prejudiced, I want Trump to win the Republican nomination. I would love the opportunity to run against him. I think we would win...by a lot.
(laughter and insane clapping from the crowd)
And the perfect closing.
