C&L's Late Nite Music Club With Space Raft
When friends become a part of history
The past few days have been quite momentous for Wisconsin band Space Raft. Their 2nd album Rubicon is slated for release April 15th and the psych-pop combo were looking for a few ways to get the word out.
Somehow their music grabbed the interest of people on Bernie Sanders staff. They offered the band a chance to play his campaign visits in Wisconsin this past weekend. Being Sanders supporters they jumped at the chance and, after going through background checks, they played in front of two of the biggest crowds in their three year career this past Sunday and Monday.
I've known two of the Space Raft members since putting out records by their respective teenage garage punk bands in the early 00's on my (not defunct but currently "on the back burner again for now") record label Bancroft and it is pretty cool to see these type of things happening for them. In their own way, they are now not just a part of Midwest/Rust Belt music history but also American history itself because when the polls closed yesterday it was shown that the state of Wisconsin is feeling the Bern.
From that new album here's "Paper Airplanes."
