Macklemore Joins Obama: 'Addiction Can Happen To Any Of Us'

And the Republican Senate is addicted to "obstruction."

This is one of the better weekly addresses.

President Obama brings hip-hop star Macklemore to his weekly address to talk about the issue of opioid/prescription painkiller addiction.

If you or someone you know is facing this widespread problem, there is help. You can start by calling 1-800-662-HELP to be connected with a treatment program in your area.

As Macklemore says in this video:

Addiction is like any other disease – it doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t care what color you are, whether you’re a guy or a girl, rich or poor, whether you live in the inner-city, a suburb, or rural America. This doesn’t just happen to other people’s kids or in some other neighborhood. It can happen to any of us.

It's clear from this message that Obama isn't just interested in countering opioid addiction -- this message indicates he is also battling the obstruction addiction in the United States Senate, and the austerity addiction in the Republican Party as a whole. Unless those addictions are overcome, what is the likelihood that Congress will actually take action and fund the necessary programs to save the lives of constituents in their own states and districts?
