Fox Pundits Push Latest Conspiracy Theory On Trump's 'Earned Media'
The yappers over on Faux "news" are already coming up with excuses for Trump's demise in the general election.
The yappers over on Faux "news" are already coming up with excuses for Trump's demise in the general election -- all that free, a.k.a. "earned media" Hair Drumpf has had over the last year was really just a set up so they could knock him down in the general election.
Here's Fox's Charles Payne doing just that on this Saturday's Cavuto on Business while discussing Trump's dismal fundraising and his claim that he won't need as much money as Clinton because of all of his "free media exposure."
Guest Adam Lashinsky pointed out that the coverage of Trump isn't going to be as good as it was during the primary race, and that's all it took for guest host Payne to pounce.
PAYNE: Oh, so you admit that the mainstream media set him up! Is that what you're doing? [...] So you're admitting to a point, what Gary said, that the mainstream media, a lot of people said they gave him that free media in order to set him up, and now, they're going to hit him with the hammer.
After Lashinsky refused to go along with the premise, his fellow guest, Charlie Gasparino chimed in as well.
GASPARINO: That's exactly what's going on right now. If you look at it, everybody knew that Donald Trump stiffed creditors and people that did stuff, you know, worked on his... these aren't top, top... these aren't top creditors. [...] Everybody knew... read the New York Times and USA Today. Everybody knew that Donald...
PAYNE: So old stories are going to start coming out...
GASPARINO: Everybody knew that, now all of the sudden I'm reading it after he won. Why didn't they do that before he won?
There were plenty of negative stories about Trump before he won the nomination, and what refrain did we constantly hear from the media? "It doesn't matter" because Republican primary voters "don't care" about this stuff. Now they're acting surprised that a general electorate might feel differently.
They're also setting up a fall guy to blame is Trump gets trounced later -- it's the so-called, nonexistent "liberal media's" fault.
Fox is as guilty if not worse than the rest of them for allowing Trump to grab the Republican nomination with little to no scrutiny for all of the scandals in his past. These jokers can take a good look in the mirror if they want to know who to blame for that.
