Mike Lee Waiting For Genocidal Trump To 'Convince Me' To Endorse
Here are the reasons I think Trump is pure evil, and maybe I can change my mind!
Oh, look, it's NewsMax. And Right Wing NewsMax "host" Steve Malzberg wants to know how come with the Constitution about to be burned and then eaten alive by Hillary Clinton, Representative Mike Lee of Utah won't bow down and worship endorse Donald J. Trump for President? I mean, it's so easy to abandon all principles, it's not like you have a choice anyway right?
STEVE MALZBERG: I just don't understand the scrutiny on Trump! The best thing about Trump is he's not Hillary. You will not get those Supreme Court justices, and for someone who is...the Supreme Court, the Constitution, is so important, I mean, asking Trump to prove more and more when you know that the alternative is a disaster for the Constitution, I just don't understand why you're not out there, you know, trumpeting Trump.
MIKE LEE: Hey look, Steve, I get it. You want me to endorse Trump.
MALZBERG: Well I don't understand why you're not, really. Yeah.
LEE: Well, we can get into that, if you want. We can get into the fact that he accused my best friend's father of conspiring to kill JFK. We can go through the fact that, he has made some statements, that some have identified, correctly, as religiously intolerant. We can get into the fact that he is wildly unpopular in my state, in part because my state consists of people who members of a religious minority church. People who were ordered exterminated by the Governor of Missouri in 1838, and statements like that make them nervous.
And then comes the money quote:
Now look, these things are not something I couldn't get over, if I heard the right things from him. Look, I hope I can get over these concerns. If you want to go to why I have these concerns, I can go on if you like. I hope I can get over these concerns, I hope Trump can help me identify them. But don't sit here and tell me, Steve, that I have no reason to be concerned about Donald Trump.
Sure, maybe he's on the side of wanting to wipe out whole religions, but still, if he said the right things, like 'I don't mean the MORMONS, Mike', and if he told my best friend Ted Cruz 'I'm sorry what I said about your daddy killing JFK', then I could totally get behind him because Republicans stick together.
Somehow, Mr. Freedom Caucus shut down the government, I don't think you're gonna get your wish to have an out when it comes to voting against your own constituents on Trump. You might ask Mitt Romney how it feels to be out of office so you can really stand on your NeverTrump principles.
Utah's going Blue this year. Enjoy.
