Tucker Carlson: Assault Weapons Ban Is Useless Because Orlando Shooter Could Use A 'Crock Pot'

Fox News host Tucker Carlson asserted over the weekend that a ban on military-style assault weapons would have have been ineffective at stopping the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando because the shooter could have used a "crock pot" instead.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson asserted over the weekend that a ban on military-style assault weapons would have have been ineffective at stopping the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando because the shooter could have used a "crock pot" instead.

Taking the side of the National Rifle Association on Sunday, Carlson demanded that politicians who supported gun control should have to explain how a "ludicrous" ban on AR-15s would have stopped the Orlando shooting.

"They don't have an answer because there isn't one," the Fox News host insisted. "This is an attempt to control and disarm the population. And they're using terror as a pretext to do it. And they should just admit that."

Co-host Anna Kooiman pointed out that lawmakers supporting the assault weapons ban would argue that "somebody walking in with a knife" would have killed fewer people.

"Well, a crock pot caused those killings at the Boston Marathon," Carlson sneered. "I think we need to regulate those or ban them. There's no reason you should be able to buy a crock pot at Walmart ever again."

Carlson most likely misspoke while referring to a pressure cooker bomb that the plotters of the Boston Marathon attack used to kill three people.
