Even The Fox News Panel Thinks Melania's Speech Is A Problem

Because it is.

A number of hours after Melania Trump's speech, there were several Fox News employees more than willing to make excuses or ignore that her remarks were plagiarized.

But by last night that fact could not be denied, even by Fox.

Brit Hume, yes, that Brit Hume, didn't sugarcoat that Melania Trump's speech was plagiarized.

"It's pretty unmistakable what happened. The writer of those speeches, lifted those passages."

Then Brit Hume talked about how many people in the White House bureaucracy has to go through a Presidential speech. "It takes a lot of people to do it. And a ...small staffed campaign may not be equipped to do it."

Megyn Kelly then explained that a speech was drafted earlier by professional speechwriters, but it was scrapped, probably by Melania herself.

Former Bush speechwriter Mark Thiessen said, "Yeah, I know those guys, and they would never have cribbed a speech from Michelle Obama."

The panel then actually laughed at a quote from Manafort that it wasn't plagiarized at all.

The one panelist who towed the Trump line was David Wohl, who tried to push that no one but the media cared about the cribbing.

Megyn said "don't you think it was unfortunate, that something was taken away? ..."Doesn't authenticity matter?"

Wohl insisted that no one "gave a flip" except the media. Brit Hume, yes, that Brit Hume, wasn't having it.

The plagiarism, Hume said, "put a stain on it, that is ineradicable, and diminished the event."
