Starring Robert Cummings and Michele Morgan, with standout performances by Steve Cochran as the psycho gangster and Peter Lorre as his henchman.

The Film Noir: An Encyclopedic Reference to the American Style entry for "The Chase" says: "Phantom Lady excepted, The Chase is the best cinematic equivalent of the dark, oppressive atmosphere that characterizes most of Cornell Woolrich's best fiction."
