Steve Scalise: The Right To Bear Arms Is 'Unlimited'

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, who is recovering after being shot earlier this year, said on Sunday that he believes gun rights in America are "unlimited."

During an interview on Meet the Press, host Chuck Todd asked Scalise about his view on gun laws following the mass shooting in Las Vegas that killed 58 people.

Scalise argued that the focus should be on "the amount of people across the country who over the course of a day or a week or a month use guns to protect themselves against criminals."

"Is there a limit?" Todd pressed. "Is the right to bear arms unlimited or is there a limit?"

According to Scalise, "the Second Amendment really predates the Bill of Rights."

"It is a long history in our country to make sure that you protect the rights of citizens to bear arms," he explained.

"But is it unlimited?" Todd wondered.

"It is," Scalise opined. "You are right in the sense that there are already limits on the gun ownership but, frankly, let's go out and enforce those laws. Don't try to put new laws in place."

In case you were wondering how much it costs to buy Steve Scalise's soul, Open Secrets reports that the NRA donated just under $5,000 to Scalise's campaign last year.
