Pastor Of Texas Church And His Wife Speak To Reporters
They lost an adopted 14-year-old daughter in the shooting.
I can't imagine the pain they are going through. They lost a 14-year-old adopted daughter in the shooting, as well as 25, TWENTY FIVE, of their church family. An 18-month-old. The visiting pastor who took his place at the pulpit. All gunned down by an AR-15. Because he could.
The pastor's wife noted that her daughter could not have dealt with this tragedy.
SHERRY POMEROY: We were very close. We ate together, laughed together, cried together and worshipped together. Now most of our church family is gone. Our building is probably beyond repair. And the few of us that are left behind lost tragically yesterday. As senseless as this tragedy was, our sweet Belle [their 14-year-old daughter who was shot to death] would not have been able to deal with losing so much family yesterday. Don't forget Sutherland Springs.
PASTOR FRANK POMEROY: And lift his name in Christ. Everything is in Christ.
REPORTER: What do you tell the other grieving families?
FRANK POMEROY: I'm still working on that. Thank you. Christ is the one who is going to be lifted up. That's what I'm telling everybody. You lean into what you don't understand. You lean into the Lord. Submit this to everyone, my family whatever life brings to you, lean on the Lord rather than your own understanding. I don't understand. I know my God does. That's where I'll leave that.
