A 24 Year Old Trump Campaign Worker Is Running The Government Drug Policy Office

Nothing says "qualified to run a federal office" than being a low level campaign worker

Donald Trump continues his incredible track record of hiring the absolute best (worst) people for jobs through the recent revelation from the Washington Post that one of Trump's former campaign staff is now running the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Oh, and he is only 24 years old.

The Washington Post reports that way back in May of 2016, Taylor Weyeneth was an undergraduate at St. John’s University in New York who also worked on Trump's campaign.
Just one year later he was appointed to a high level position at the Office of National Drug Control Policy, which coordinates the federal government’s anti-drug initiatives. He was recently appointed to deputy chief of staff. At 24 years old.

His resume shows zero qualifications for this job, other than being a Trump campaign member. Maybe this is just another coffee boy that was promoted way out of his league because truly qualified staff were not jumping at the chance to work in the Russian White House?

What probably happened is that due to the nearly daily turnover, resignations and firing of staff, Trump is happy to put any warm body in any empty seat, not matter how incredibly unqualified they are. I mean, Trump IS President*, right? Talk about the most unqualified man to hold any office, ever.

A memo sent out in January 3rd seems to acknowledge the ridiculousness of the situation, stating:

“ONDCP leadership recognizes that we have lost a few talented staff members and that the organization would benefit from an infusion of new expert staff. The functions of the Chief of Staff will be picked up by me and the Deputy Chief of Staff.”

After the Washington Post started asking questions, the White House decided to demote Weyeneth back to his previous position, one that he also isn't qualified for. An unnamed administration official states that he will be "primarily performing administrative work, rather than making policy decisions, and that he had assumed additional duties and an additional title following staff openings.”

Oh, and Weyeneth's resume outlined such spectacular work as:

Part time work as “Director of Production” for Nature’s Chemistry - a family company that processes chai seeds and health products. In 2011 the company was charged with "secretly processing illegal steroids from China as part of a conspiracy involving people from Virginia, California and elsewhere in the United States." Weyeneth’s stepfather pleaded guilty to a felony conspiracy charge was sentenced to two years probation and a fine.

Weyeneth's resume also states that he has a master's degree from Fordham, but the university says he has never finished his coursework. Hmm. He also states that he volunteered for hundreds of hours at a monastery, but the rectors do not remember him or have any paperwork to corroborate his claims about his extensive volunteer work.

Lies on resume? Check.
Claims degrees he doesn't have? Check.
Exaggerates church affiliation? Check.
In job he is completely unqualified for? Check.

So he checks all the boxes to be a Trump White House employee.
