Federal Investigation Into Trump Organization Appears To Have Ended... And The Timing Is Suspicious
Trump's "Roy Cohen" strikes again.
CNN is reporting that the investigation being conducted into the Trump Organization by U.S. attorneys in the Manhattan District of New York appears to be wrapping up with no charges whatsoever. However, former federal prosecutor and CNN legal analyst Renato Mariotta has noticed an odd “coincidence” of timing.
In January, a month after former Trump attorney and Trump Organization staffer Michael Cohen, U.S. attorneys at the Manhattan office requested interviews with executives of the Trump Organization. But those interviews never happened. In fact, there has been no contact between the U.S. Attorney's office and officials at the Trump Organization for over five months.
It doesn’t appear that the investigation into the Trump Organization has wrapped up after finding nothing wrong. It appears that, five months ago, the investigation was simply halted, and the Justice Department has sat on that decision until now, when news that the organization has been “cleared” is beginning to leak out.
In the wake of Robert Mueller’s decision to follow his own rigid views on whether or not Trump could be charged, many had been counting on U.S. attorneys to bring to light the wide ranging money-laundering, election law violations, and simple fraud conducted by Donald Trump and the Trump Organization. Now it seems that five months ago that effort “went quiet.” The interviews halted. The papers went back in boxes.
Five months ago when when William Barr was confirmed as attorney general.
It certainly looks as if writing up a completely misleading “summary” of the special counsel report is far from the biggest favor that Barr has done for Trump.
