CNN's Chris Licht Considers Casting A Comedian As Evening Host
Still hasn't occurred to him to just, you know, cover the news instead of trying to be Fox Lite.
The new chief of CNN, Chris Licht, is considering turning the primetime lineup over to a comedian. Via Radar Online:
According to the report, former "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, embattled HBO host Bill Maher, along with comedy giants like Trevor Noah and Arsenio Hall are being considered to host the 9-11 p.m. slots.
CNN has suffered a significant rating crash since Licht took over last year. He's moved several hosts around and welcomed more Republicans to give commentary and answer reporters' questions. It hasn't worked out for the network, however, which is still losing the rating war.
Also surprising are reports indicating Licht and other CNN executives are eyeing American comedian and political commentator Jon Stewart to host the potential new program that would air from 9-11 PM every weeknight.
Bill Maher? Nope. Trevor Noah? Maybe. Arsenio Hall? No opinion. Jon Stewart? Maybe-to-yes. Seth Meyers? Absolutely.
