'Get The RIGGERS!' Trump Is Unhappy About Mike Pence Summons
This poor punkin' is upset.
Former Vice President Mike Pence has been subpoenaed by special counsel Jack Smith who is investigating Donald Trump and his role in the January 6 insurrection. The one-term president plans to have his attorneys fight the special counsel's subpoena on executive privilege grounds. I'm not sure, but isn't that like telling the cops after my boyfriend has been missing for a month to NOT look in the compost pile in the backyard?
CBS first reported the news.
Via NBC News reports:
Trump had tried to claim executive privilege multiple times to block the committee from obtaining documents it had sought during its investigation.
The committee devoted an entire hearing to Pence's role on the day of the riot as well as the intense public and private pressure Trump applied to Pence to get him to interfere with the electoral count.
Pence said in a Wall Street Journal opinion article that he told Trump it would be illegal for him to interfere in the count during an Oval Office meeting with lawyer John Eastman, one of the architects of a memo that outlined a scenario in which Pence could refuse to certify the Electoral College count.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Friday to whine about Jack Smith. Again.
"Will Trump Hating Prosecutor Jack Smith be investigating the FACT that they SPIED on my campaign, even as I was in the Oval Office, they Stuffed the Ballot Boxes (per 2000 Mules), used Covid to cheat, that the FBI pushed Twitter & Facebook around, causing massive voter disruption, and so much more?" he wrote. "That’s really what he should be looking at, not asking a very decent Mike Pence why he didn’t send the votes back to State Legislatures for scrutinization, which he could have done. Get the RIGGERS!"
The subpoena is good news for Pence -- in a way. The former Vice President can finally be forthcoming about what led to the riot. Trump supporters still want him dead, so it's a sticky situation.
