Rep. Dan Goldman Runs Circles Around Twitter Files Guy At Hearing
He is so good at this.
Republicans thought they had something when Matt Taibbi started tweeting out what's called the Twitter files. Finally, they can prove that they are victims of censorship by a private company. Yes, I know that doesn't make sense since the First Amendment only protects individuals from being censored by the government. And the Biden administration didn't try to censor content on Twitter. Trump tried to censor a tweet calling him a pussy ass bitch.
During today's House Oversight hearing on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, things got interesting when Rep. Dan Goldman grilled Michael Shellenberger (the fake economist who is a Twitter files journalist).
"You said in the Twitter Files that every single fact in the Post story was accurate, correct?" Goldman asked, referring to the story in the New York Post.
"Yes," Shellenberger responded.
Goldman pointed out that the very first paragraph of the tabloid's story was inaccurate. As Goldman noted, Ukraine official Viktor Shokin was ousted because he wasn't pursuing corruption. That had nothing to do with Hunter Biden.
Conservatives have been running with fake news talking points, falsely claiming that Joe Biden strong-armed the Ukrainian government to fire its top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, to thwart an investigation into a company, Burisma, tied to his son, Hunter Biden.
The opposite of what conservatives have been claiming is true. Shokin was fired because he wasn't pursuing corruption among the country's politicians. And that's according to a Ukrainian official and four former American officials specializing in Ukraine and Europe. The conspiracy theories aren't backed up by evidence.
International calls rang out for Shokin to be fired because of his inaction on corruption in Ukraine. Ultimately, Ukraine's parliament removed him.
Daria Kaleniuk, co-founder and executive director of the Anti Corruption Action Centre in Kyiv, confirmed that if Joe Biden, Europen diplomats, and others hadn't pressured the officials, Shokin would not have been fired.
That has zero things to do with Hunter Biden.
