Mrs. Frazzled talks about the literary concept of windows and mirrors and how books can act as a window into the lives of others who differ from us or as a mirror showing us who we are. But this is a concept that is lost on the book-banning GOP. Or my likely, just simply rejected altogether by them.

Instead of a willingness to expand their horizons or, God forbid, take a hard, honest look at themselves, they would rather go to the trouble of hiding behind the guise of morality or patriotism to rationalize their fear and their prejudices. It says a lot more about their character flaws than those of the people they are trying to oppress. Their urge to dehumanize others ends up having the opposite effect and they end up dehumanizing themselves.
