Teacher Shows Students Pro-Confederacy Propaganda Video

In the video, the teacher praises the people who fought on the side of the Confederacy, and renames the Civil War as "the War To Prevent Southern Independence."

In Florida, it is illegal to teach children Critical Race Theory (CRT) because that might hurt some racists' fee fees. But it apparently is OK to teach Critical White Supremacy Theory (CWST).

A Florida teacher at Manatee Middle School took it upon himself to create a pro-Confederacy propaganda video and show it to the entire school without permission from either the school or the parents.

In the video, he praises the men and women who fought on behalf of the Confederacy and calls them heroes. At one point, he even tries to relabel the Civil War. Fortunately, Florida still have some parents that actually care what their children are being taught and they are causing a backlash against the teacher and the school:

At one point in the video, the teacher suggests a different name for the Civil War.

“[The] Civil War, but may be more correctly titled the War To Prevent Southern Independence,” he said.

“No. It is the Civil War,” responded Casey Smith. “It has always been called the Civil War.”

Parents tell NBC2 they have no problem talking about slavery, the Civil War, or our nation’s darkest days.

“Some of this actually sounds very accurate,” Smith said.

The issue they have is with what the teacher made up and put in the video and in front of their child’s faces.

“They spoke about celebrating the confederacy in the State of Florida,” Smith said.

Unbelievably - well, actually its all to believable for Florida - the teacher is still working. School officials say that the incident is "under investigation." What's not clear is if even the local TV news station has a copy of the video, how much more do they have to investigate. It seems more likely that they are just waiting for the whole thing to blow over without doing a damn thing.
