Israel Can't Get Trump To Return Artifacts Stockpiled At Mar-a-Lago
Old Sticky Fingers strikes again!
Old Sticky Fingers is at it again, and now former President Donald Trump's penchant for hoarding has gone international this time. Israeli antiquities were up for a brief exhibition in Washington, D.C, but the valuables got stranded because of the pandemic. They're now in Trump's Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, and Israel can't get them back for some reason.
According to the Israeli outlet Haaretz, senior figures have unsuccessfully tried to have them returned to Israel.
Haaretz reports:
Among the antiquities are ancient ceramic oil lamps which are part of Israel's national treasures collection. They were sent to the U.S. in 2019 with the approval of then-Director of the Israeli Antiquities Authority, Israel Hasson, on the condition that they be returned within weeks, yet almost four years later, they have yet to be returned.
When the treasures were to be returned to Israel, they got "stuck" in the United States. When Israeli authorities learned several months ago that the antiquities eventually ended up at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where they remain, Israeli figures sought to get them returned.
Current Director of the Antiquities Authority Eli Eskozido has contacted the Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, and former U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, asking them to aid in returning the items, thus far without success. It is unclear whether Trump himself is aware that the items are on the premises of his estate.
Have they checked Trump's bathroom? I hear he likes to keep valuables next to his shitter.
Via The Telegraph:
The newspaper quoted a source who was “updated” on the matter as saying that they wouldn’t be surprised if the items, which were initially sent to the White House in 2019, were eventually “found in some bathroom” at the property.
Yeah, check there.
