Trump Gushes With Empathy And Love At Republican Convention

OK, so the title is a lie. He's a pig.

Former President Trump spoke to a small crowd of supporters in Anaheim, California, telling him the state is "rigged." And then the one-term President took a couple of shots at Rep. Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, who was attacked last year by a Trump supporter with a hammer. The perpetrator bought into Trump's election lies. Words matter, and Trump knows that. He's normalizing political violence.

"And we'll stand up to crazy Nancy Pelosi who ruined San Francisco," Trump claimed, even though there is more violence in House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's district.

"How's her husband doing, by the way?" he asked. "Anybody know?"

"And she's against building a wall at our border, even though she has a wall around her house, which obviously didn't do a very good job," he added.

Paul Pelosi's attacker was armed with a hammer.

"This attack is terrifying and the direct result of toxic right-wing rhetoric and incitement against Speaker Pelosi and so many other progressive leaders," said state Sen. Scott Wiener, who had encountered the attacker, David DePape, before the attack. "Words have consequences, and without question, the GOP's hate and extremism has bred political violence."

Shame on everyone at the California Republican Party's fall convention in Anaheim. Appalling.
