Meet The Press Host Brutally Fact-Checks DeSantis To His Face
That's got to hurt.
Meet the Press host Kristen Welker brutally fact-checked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in real-time, on the air, leaving the GOP Presidential hopeful grasping for an answer when she questioned the results of his time in office in the Sunshine State.
"You can look, you know, in Florida, our crime rate's at a 50-year low, and our violent crime rate's down 30% since I've been governor," DeSantis said. "So we're handling it strong."
"Governor, actually, statistically speaking, the CDC says that the firearm mortality rate is actually higher under your administration than it was under your predecessor's administration," Welker shot back. "But I do want to move on to the campaign."
"And just- The what mortality rate?" DeSantis said. "No, no, no."
"The firearm mortality rate was actually higher under your administration than your predecessor's," Welker said. "That's according to the CDC. Let me move on to the campaign, Governor."
"Well, right," he said. "Because, well, because you had COVID and all that stuff. Excess mortality, is that what you're saying? That went up everywhere in the country from 2020 on. Our excess mortality went up less than anybody.
"The firearm mortality rate," she explained again. "Let me move on to the campaign because I want to let you respond."
He knew what she was talking about even when she brought the receipts. He's just playing dumb.
Just take the L, Ron, and walk away. I have no idea why I'm putting this clip here:
