House Cheers When Marge’s Attempt To Censure Tlaib Fails Bigly
23 Republicans joined Democrats in smacking down MTG’s phony concern for anti-Semitism and insurrection.
You may recall that Greene put forth a resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib for antisemitism and leading an “insurrection” when she took part in a peaceful demonstration at the Capitol, led by Jewish Voice for Peace, demanding a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war.
Yes, Tlaib blamed Israel for a horrific explosion at a Gaza hospital, then refused to apologize after the U.S. determined it had likely been caused by a Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket that had missed its target. But whatever you think of Tlaib or her stance on Israel, her behavior came nowhere close to anything like an insurrection.
Greene’s sudden display of concern for antisemitism is absurd considering she has a well-documented history of antisemitism, herself. Remember when she blamed Jewish space lasers for wildfires in California?
The resolution to censure Tlaib for antisemitism and leading an “insurrection” should be a joke, too. Not so funny is Greene’s effort to liken the Jewish Voice for Peace demonstration to the violent, Jan. 6 insurrection and coup attempt that Greene wishes had gone even further.
But I am definitely laughing over the cheers and applause that broke out when Greene’s resolution was tabled, i.e. killed.
