Creepy GOP Lady Wants To Create A Database Of Pregnant Women

This has Handmaiden's Tale vibes.

Alabama Sen. Katie Britt received a backlash after her cringy response to President Biden's State of the Union address. And, of course, it contained a whopper of a lie as she sat in her kitchen with a creepy smile on her face. Well, she's back, smiles and all, as she attempts to bring The Handmaiden's Tale to real life by introducing a bill this week to create a federal database to store information on pregnant women.

"As a mom, I know that there is no greater blessing in this life than our children," Britt says. "And I also understand the types of challenges that women face during their pregnancy journeys and while raising their kids," Britt said. "To all of my fellow moms out there, my goal is to give you and your children the opportunities to thrive and to live your American dreams," she said, adding that she seeks to "advance a comprehensive culture of life."

She called it the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed Act, the MOMS Act.

HuffPost reports:

Britt portrayed the MOMS Act as providing "critical support to women," but neglected to mention that the legislation would create a Pregnancy.gov federal clearinghouse featuring "resources" about anti-abortion centers, often known as "crisis pregnancy centers."

The website would include information on adoption agencies but not on abortion clinics, Axios reported, and the bill would give grants to anti-abortion nonprofits as well.

Elsewhere, the bill notes that the website's users can consent for their contact information to be used by the government, which may "conduct outreach via phone or email" to share "additional resources that would be helpful."

The bill, which was introduced along with Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), would also require states to "apply child support obligations to the time period during pregnancy" at a mother's request, which Jezebel described as effectively viewing embryos as children.

Trump set all of this in motion. And the domino effect that it created is horrifying. They're going after women's rights with a smile on their faces. We see you. We know what y'all are doing while trying to disguise your actions. Expect us in November. Women are a huge voting bloc, and we are pissed off. And so are friends of women.
