On this day in 1983, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” premiered in Los Angeles. Directed by John Landis (An American Werewolf in London, Three Amigos, Trading Places), the video paid homage to some of Hollywood’s biggest horror films, including a voiceover from one of the genre’s OG icons, Vincent Price.

driftglass: If you go looking through what little is left of late Steve Gilliard's blog for his seminal, November 2004 post "They Voted For This Mess", this is all you will find: "Page not found. Sorry, the page you were looking for in the blog The News Blog does not exist." However before the weeds took over the place and much of the content vanished into digital dust, I took it upon myself to copy Steve's original post into my blog for safekeeping. Except for a few names and dates, Steve's post could have been written yesterday, not 20 years ago, so today I'm going to stretch my editorial prerogative a little and link to that post from my own blog from 2012. Here's hoping you find it as rewarding as I do.
