The Moral Of The Story Of Ted Cruz And Green Eggs And Ham
Think about the moral of Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham.
Cruz began by reading Bible passages from "King Solomon's Wise Words," and then compared the Affordable Care Act to the beloved Dr. Seuss story "Green Eggs and Ham," which he read enthusiastically and in full.
"'Green Eggs and Ham' has some applicability, as curious as it may sound, to the Obamcare debate," Cruz said after he finished, to a few audible chuckles from the Senate gallery.
Americans "did not like green eggs and ham, and they did not like Obamacare either," he added. "They did not like Obamacare in a box, with a fox, in a house, with a mouse."
Think about the moral of Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham.
Isn't it, 'How do you know you don't like it if you haven't even tried it?'
Right now, many Republicans hate Obamacare. But, when you ask them about individual components of it -- or even just call it the "Affordable Care Act" -- suddenly, they like it a lot more. The reality just doesn't match all the lies Fox News has told.
People will soon be taking advantage of the benefits that Obamacare provides; then they'll find out that Obamacare is going to save them hundreds of dollars every month on their health insurance.
And they'll find out that their kids will get to stay on their parents plan for years longer.
They'll find out that they can't be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions.
There are no lifetime caps on care.
The insurance companies can no longer drop them because they get sick.
The insurance has to cover preventative care at 100%.
People who haven't tried Obamacare yet are going to start liking it...a lot.
