Tens of thousands of Egyptians have returned to the birthplace of last year’s popular uprising as officials say that delayed election results will be announced Sunday. The anti-military demonstrations in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, initiated Wednesday by the Muslim Brotherhood, continued to grow steadily Saturday as Egyptian voters expressed outrage over the delayed release of official results in the runoff election between Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi and Ahmed Shafiq, a former prime minister under ousted president Hosni Mubarak. The Muslim Brotherhood has released photocopied documents from each of the country’s electoral districts as well as a tally that shows its candidate ahead by about 900,000 votes.
