The Occupy Wall Street protesters in San Francisco were warned early this morning that if they stayed in camp, they faced possible arrest at some point today. Police have arrived, and so it begins.

12:47am EST: Viewing the live stream, a very large police presence tonight in San Francisco, some arguing back and forth, and here come the rubber bullets. One injured person down on the ground. Protesters trying to reach the them through the crowd that is now very angry about the aggression.

1:05amEST - Police load trucks with personal belongings from the park, a few scuffles and another wounded person, details unclear yet on the injuries. The police seem to leave the area, but they have just returned.

1:25amEST - Protesters have already reassembled supplies for setting up tents, nearly finished.

2:40amEST - After a brief festive period for the protesters in San Francisco, the police have returned with an even larger presence. An unknown number of arrests, with protesters injured as they were thrown to the ground and 'hog-tied,' as the anonymous journalist filming the events called it. You can also hear people speaking to anonymous seeking legal help for arrested friends.

2:56amEST - Josh Harkinson of Mother Jones tweets that 2,000 marchers from Occupy Oakland are considering taking the Bay Bridge to join those at Occupy San Francisco. Hopefully, they'll come to their senses, as there are no sidewalks or railings, and a lot of cars. It could be a disaster. Speaking of disasters, a Bay area news producer has tweeted reports of a 4.8 earthquake in the area that he says shook his newsroom.
